Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

I don't find much English information about the effectiveness of any of the Chinese vaccines, but here is snippet of one:

"
The vaccine’s recipients include construction workers, diplomats and students who have traveled to more than 150 countries during the pandemic, Sinopharm chairman Liu Jingzhen said. China had managed to largely keep the coronavirus off of its soil since late April, so participants in vaccine trials needed to be sent overseas to find out if the vaccine really worked.

“For example, a transnational company has 99 employees in one of its overseas offices, of whom 81 were vaccinated,” Liu was quoted explaining. “And later, an outbreak broke out in the office, 10 of the 18 people who were not vaccinated were infected and none of those vaccinated were infected.”

The effectiveness of the vaccine from Sinopham approaches 100%, while moderate and severe adverse effects approach zero. I think China will soon get a blockbuster vaccine:
According to GI Healthcare Resources, Sinopharm is currently carrying out Phase III trials on its two vaccine candidates in 10 countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Egypt, and Morocco, involving over 55,000 subjects.

The company said none of the trial participants reported any adverse reactions or side effects
...

"More than 60,000 personnel who have been vaccinated have gone to work in more than 180 countries overseas without a single reported case of Covid-19 infection," it added.

GI Healthcare Resources claimed that based on the examples above, Sinopharm's vaccine effectiveness is close to 100%.

Ever since the US is in euphoria over Pfizer and Moderna's announcements, the US media is literally talking about the problems of distribution of their vaccines around the world like there are no other vaccines out there.

Their confidence is not unwarranted. Unlike Chinese vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines won't face the same hostile political and regulatory environment in many countries.

Seems like Shanghai about to lock down due to new domestic covid cases, dont care what vesicles says but now is the time for China to start mass deployment of that vaccine (funny the double standards, apparently the US rushing out the untested and unproven mRna vaccine is a-okay with him but when China does it with a much better vaccine its "China bad" again)

All new vaccines carry risk. Doubtful China would implement a mass deployment of the vaccines right now. China would probably expand the emergency use to include more people and more industry and redouble the effort to convince more frontline workers to vaccinate. Mass vaccination would probably be a few months away.

There's no way SH will go into lockdown again.

China should just roll out the subunit vaccines at least, those should be relatively safe. As long as it can give immunity to like 50% of the population, the disease should have very low spread.

Give it to all the hospitals, airport, port workers, anyone planning on travelling should get it.

Fosun can also ramp out the mRNA vaccine.

This way China can go back to 100%.

Well the problem is they can't produce their vaccine in enough quantities especially the Pfizer one since it requires extreme cold storage. The idea they will be able to vaccinate the world is a lie.

For them, the world usually means the western world and its allies. I am sure those governments would find it more politically viable to wait and invest in new freezers than to approve Chinese vaccines.

Many of their citizens don't even trust their own existing vaccines for many other diseases, asking them to trust a chinese one for covid 19 is simply political suicide.

Which Chinese vaccines are near approval for use?
