American Economics Thread

Despite US stagnating economically, I still believe the US is the largest civilisational threat to China in all 5000 years of history. It's the only country that has good enough geography to match China so far. The huge amounts of farmland and rivers gives the US the ability to sustain a large population. Even though they have barely 1/4 of China's population today, nobody knows what will happen in 2,3,500 years.

For China to remain number one it needs to expand. North to Siberia and south to Vietnam. Maybe not now, not even in a hundred years but it has to happen. Unless the US implodes into different cultures like Europe, but that's unlikely as technology has standardised language.
They should just retake outer mongolia first.

Not when climate change devastates the farmlands.

China also has this existential problem --- climate change. In fact, pandemics is one of the things that result from climate change.
Diverting water into xinjiang would create a lot of farmlands.

And this is pure evidence that the USA is fucked beyond measure. No food bank in the USA is going to be able to sustain these kind of numbers for very long

That is not necessary true. US still waste lots of food. This country is still the land of buffets. If the picture is true, many of them still drive nice cars.

Cars purchased with loans that they can't pay.
Yeah, all hell is going to break loose soon. The people of the USA as a whole are not brave anymore so once the food, electricity and supplies get cut off sooner or later, well, the long awaited civil unrest will happen and I hope rest of the 5eyes gets a good long look at the fate that awaits them if they keep sucking the american shaft any longer. Also to note that India is also due for this fate as well.
Also to note that while the US still wastes food, they also have a situation where food lines are getting more and more common and more and more people are being laid off permanently, hence the system is being taken to the limit and those cars they are using right now are all on credit and if they don't get there jobs back right now, they will eventually lose those cars and if the number of people on food stamps shoot up to 100 million, then there will be no buffets any more.

Agree, US is a credit card country. Even if those people that has $$$, they will still will use credit to pay for stuff. There are too many American living on pay checks by pay checks.

I read a couple of stories in the media a few months ago that people in Florida were reputed to have been filling up their gas tank to full to go line up at the food bank.

The food bank in America story is interesting because, well, it is an economic story, such numbers probably not reflected accurately in the official story they want us to believe.

What happens to labour in the developing world? The labour market is characteristic by unemployment and under-employment.

When we see bread lines, we can safely assume one or the other is in effect.

Also, what about the future if the robots are coming for our jobs? The third world labour conditions, affectionately known as shit holes countries by our most favourite president, of unemployment and under-employment has the real potential to be a permanent feature of the system.

The most curious part of this picture, it appears the 1% not bothered by this at all, perhaps the reason being the 99% have no clue what is going on.

Remember the Occupy Wall Street Movement? I remember those protestors so vividly, because they knew they had to protest, but could not explain anything.
