Oh dear, seems that Beijing is angry the remaining pro-democracy legislators wouldn't stay to give LegCo some legitimacy. Perhaps they need to pass a new resolution/"law" that says it's a criminal offence to embarrass the CCP.
LegCo's legitimacy has nothing to do with democratic legislators; the legitimacy rises as Beijing's influence rises because that is the proper government of China, including Hong Kong. They should all leave so that Hong Kong is forever rid of the mistake of democracy. This "anger" quite frankly sounds like a boxing champ pretending to be "angry" that his rival's withdrawing and won't be able to give him a good fight.

Although I do agree with the principle, I do also agree with the idea that this was not the best approach.

Of course, I definitely believe that you cannot collude with foreign governments and call for sanctions on your own country. That is a definite no-no.

However, especially with the NSL already in force, it is a perfect opportunity to strengthen the mechanisms already in place to disqualify lawmakers for these sorts of actions. Those goofballs that yelled obscenities during their swearing in were already previously disqualified by courts, so clearly there are already be mechanisms in place to remove these kinds of "lawmakers".

That being said, I can understand why so many posters are so supportive of the central government's decision. I mean, this is essentially just a formality, we know who these people actually are, so just get to the point.

I do wonder how many people in the pro-democracy camp sincerely care about democracy. Who in that camp would think "Hey, I have a great idea of how to achieve our goals of universal suffrage? I think we should ask for America and Britain to intervene!"? It would be like a politician in Israel trying to get elected by evoking "the greatness of Nazi Germany".

Good riddance.

Great take on the disqualification and subsequent resignation. This includes that awful traitor, the queen condom, Claudia Mao. The same woman who's son was involved in vandalizing the legislator in the early days of the riots. The very place where she "work". Yet, like a certain person here, I have yet hear her or this person condemn these rioters in destroying the legislator.

It's the best thing to have happened to Hong Kong since the National Security Law (tap photo below). Many HKers are breaking out the champagne and/or buying roast pork to celebrate. Finally, the House of Brawling Monkeys will turn back into the Legislative Council. At last, HK’s legislature will be able to help, not hinder, local governance. And Hong Kong will again be able to pass laws without endless, cynically engineered delays. The territory’s “democracy” thugs don’t even know they’ve jumped off the political cliff. Spoilt rotten for 23 years by neocolonialist HK authorities, they think they are sanctifying themselves as martyrs for Truth, Justice and the American Way. They aren’t likely to be allowed to run in any local election again, as Beijing continues to tighten laws against subversion and collusion with foreign powers in Hong Kong. It’s also a good time to do away with the entire rigmarole of Western electoral “democracy.” It gives cover to subversion and sabotage, divides the community, corrodes social cohesion, drains public resources and opens the way to Imperial intervention, even color revolution. As the worldwide Democracy Empire itself wobbles, Hong Kong, China should set an example by putting the imperialists’ fraudulent and toxic political product to death.

At best, these pan-democrat lawmakers shot themselves in the foot. They just gave up the last bits of power they have in bargaining with Beijing. Now if they try to join the students and challenge Beijing from outside the existing institutions, they would likely end up being just like other Chinese dissidents: jailed and exiled...and permanently banned from ever entering territories administered by the PRC.

Well, why isn't this a surprise? No wonder Hong Kong is a mess it is in with teachers like this. And he isn't the only one. These are not ignorant teachers. They are deliberately distorting the truth and actually lying through their teeth. Anything to make China look bad to indoctrinate the kids.

Things like this, a true Chinese person or a Hong konger should be getting worked up about. But instead a certain person here get worked up when traitors elicit foreign help to destabilise Hong Kong. Gee.

Hong Kong teacher who taught inaccurate lessons on first opium war stripped of registration over ‘wild guesses’ in classroom
  • The teacher told his students the war was result of Britain’s attempts to ban opium in China, when it was in fact quite the opposite
  • He is the second to be deregistered since June last year, following case of a teacher accused of spreading pro-independence messages

Now I'm not a violent person. But these kids deserve it. Outside the court house shouting Hong Kong independence.

The man slapped him, at the same time shouting what country are you in? We are Chinese! Love him. Lol. Somehow I wanted to be that man!

I'm not a discriminating person against anyone based on appearance, but am I the only one to notice that a lot of the so-called pro-democracy or pro-independence HKers (assuming they're Hong Kong residents) are really ugly, e.g. Joshua Wong and this guy in the video?

I'm not claiming any scientific evidence or anything like that, just an observation.

Yea, lack of square jaw on top of a frame that seems somewhat less than the standard 1:3 ratio for a male head to shoulder ratio.

If you look at the footage, there was no defensive reaction. Anyone who go slapped would usually pull back or even put up an arm to block. The recovery time on the floor was pretty extended as well. If you got slapped to the ground, then the correct response would be to seek cover and assume a defensive stance, not roll on the floor and whip out a phone.

Not exactly founding father material....

So this proves that British left a ticking political timebomb in HK to try to nudge China towards democracy, as like a trojan horse. When China saw through this, British triggered the ticking time bomb, to justify sanctions etc... on China.

China wins, as always.
