King_Comm that's a very bold statement. Could you be more specfic and point out those areas?? Thanks!
==I am in the Australian army, we have no self propelled artillery, no real IFV's, we just got our first batch of M1A1's this year, we used leopard I before that, the only air defence we have is a regiment of RBS-70 MANPADS and we have none of these

Ah my friend.....but you have the greatest military machine on the planet that has your back. 50,000 U.S marines and airborne troops and 6 aircraft carriers could be in and off the coast of darwin in 60 days or less.

my best take on the PLA is also the advancment in its airforce.

I am just happy to see another Australian Soldier in here. Yeah u r right, in the Aussie Army, we truely have a huge lack of modern and fancy equipment, hell we r still flying the F-111. And i heard that none of our naval assets can actually carry the M1A1's because they r just too big and heavy for our little boats.

As I remembered, Australia has 2 revised New port class LSTs. Are you saying that they were revised too much that can't carry a single tank?

i thing you have to know the US army might pay say $20,000/soldier a year, but this convert to yuan is 160,000, consider the fact a PLA solider pay is probably around 1000 yuan/month, so for the same $20k, you effectively pay 14 PLA soliders. also, i know for sure that even some high school student in china in military training are shotting couples of hundreds rounds, and every chinese student has to get there military training in china. so there is about what 300million students. also even the high tech engineer aren't pay as much as over here in US. a engineer avg can be around $70-$80k, which is about same in china, but thats in yuan, which mean u have to *8

"also, i know for sure that even some high school student in china in military training are shotting couples of hundreds rounds"?

Now even this budget is increased that much? I only shot 10 when I was in high school:mad: I was in a so called "elite" high school and was trained in an elite unit. That's 15 years ago though

Really not a issue for you to ship your M1A1`s for coastal defense, you guys are slated for Super Bugs to replace your aging F - 111 fleet plus just as mentioned above by UTELORE you have the U.S to assist you. They would make it half way to Australia and would end up on the Ocean floor.

The acquirement of the M1A1 has more to do with political reasons for the USA and streamlining our MBT force with the USA if the Aussies needs to be deployed.
However we should not really talk about the Aussie army in a PLA forum

All of those various vehicles you named for the US forces also give them extensive tactical fighting capaibility. Particularly when you include the huge comm advantage and battlefield awareness capabilities.

The PLA does have a lot of different types, but they are of many varying ages and dispositions which makes for a logistical and maintenance nightmare in any large scale mixed or joint operations. We field less types precisely to avoid those problems...and I believe that the capabilities of those we field exceeds the capabilities of most forces the US will concievably face.

I would not want to trade the LAVs, Bradleys, Strykers, and Abrams for the equipment the PLA fields, though I am sure the PLA personnel are justifiably proud of their own equipment and service.

I dont understand why you always state that "I am not sure that the PLA personnel are justifiably proud of their own equipment and service." It is obvious that the PLA's equipment arent as high tech as United States, but I bet you that the equipment that the PLA has will pack a punch that will destroy and kill. If war with PLA were to happen, the casuality rates on both countries would be tremedously high. THIS ISNT Iraq we are fighting where the governent itself is NOT in total disaray. People will die. Imagine how hard landing a beachead on Chinese shores will be. It would be like D-Day except 100x worse.

Actually, you misquoted Jeff there, read his post again:
