I thought these are shots from a TV show? I saw those pics on Weibo and the op said its screenshots from a tv show, but the show is sponsored by the PLA, so the equipment look pretty legit... however, I doubt the M4s are actually used in training by PLA blufor

You are right. I had misread the description that accompanied those images. The description was "蓝军出击", with the characters being enclosed in《 》brackets.
I forgot those《 》brackets signify titles of movies, TV shows, or books.

Does the PLA publish the results of the blue force exercises? The latest I could find was from 2014. I curious to see how far the PLA has improved since then. Thanks.

The caption claims these are paratroops. If it's indeed the case, this is the first time I see paratroops in body armor.

I don't see any body armor.
The plate carrier vests seems present, but no plate inserts from the looks of it.
