That is an easy counter.
The New Zealand Opposition party actually wants their elections postponed until 2021, in order to have a free and fair election,
The governing party wants the elections as soon as possible, and is ignoring the Opposition.
That's not the point supersnoop was making. snoop was basically saying "why is it ok for other countries to delay their elections but not Hong Kong". The point I was making is that in other countries like New Zealand and the UK, there is consensus that a of some sort delay was necessary.
As for your point, the New Zealand Opposition were asking to delay the election past Parliament's constitutional term. That requires political consensus. If parties can only agree on a delay of a month then that's all they'll get. It's a compromise. Ardern originally didn't want a delay of any sort.
Carrie Lam delaying the 2020 election for a whole year in Hong Kong just on her say-so and without seeking a compromise with Opposition parties is completely different - even some of her political allies were just calling for a 3 month delay. The fact that the Opposition wanted to proceed despite the limitations that would be in place on them in terms of campaigning and Lam still wanting a year's suspension shows that she (and probably the CCP) were scared they'd lose almost all of the geopgraphical seats and enough functional constituencies to lose control of LegCo.
Also, the situations in Hong Kong and New Zealand are completely different. Hong Kong has had a repressive new law forced on it by the CCP and has an incredibly unpopular leader - so an election on time would help vent frustration with the HK government - whereas NZ is far calmer and Ardern isn't facing calls to resign.
