Hong-Kong Protests

That is an easy counter.

The New Zealand Opposition party actually wants their elections postponed until 2021, in order to have a free and fair election,
The governing party wants the elections as soon as possible, and is ignoring the Opposition.

That's not the point supersnoop was making. snoop was basically saying "why is it ok for other countries to delay their elections but not Hong Kong". The point I was making is that in other countries like New Zealand and the UK, there is consensus that a of some sort delay was necessary.

As for your point, the New Zealand Opposition were asking to delay the election past Parliament's constitutional term. That requires political consensus. If parties can only agree on a delay of a month then that's all they'll get. It's a compromise. Ardern originally didn't want a delay of any sort.

Carrie Lam delaying the 2020 election for a whole year in Hong Kong just on her say-so and without seeking a compromise with Opposition parties is completely different - even some of her political allies were just calling for a 3 month delay. The fact that the Opposition wanted to proceed despite the limitations that would be in place on them in terms of campaigning and Lam still wanting a year's suspension shows that she (and probably the CCP) were scared they'd lose almost all of the geopgraphical seats and enough functional constituencies to lose control of LegCo.

Also, the situations in Hong Kong and New Zealand are completely different. Hong Kong has had a repressive new law forced on it by the CCP and has an incredibly unpopular leader - so an election on time would help vent frustration with the HK government - whereas NZ is far calmer and Ardern isn't facing calls to resign.

When Daryl Morey, he was with the Houston Rockets, he made comments about Hong Kong earlier in the year. ... I got on the phone with a bunch of NBA guys, and I was like 'Don't let them pull you into this bullshit, because it's the Iraq war-, weapons of mass destruction-type propaganda again," West recently told Danny Haiphong of Black Agenda Report.

Glad he warned the other NBA players not to fall for white man's trap.

From the link:
The 39-year-old West, who retired after winning the NBA title with the Golden State Warriors in 2018, said a trip to China opened his eyes to the real China, as opposed to how it is presented in US media.

"As people in the world, as Americans and people in American society, we have been misled.

"We can no longer feed the idea that people want to be in America or want to be Americans, just because of who we are. The veil has been ripped off."

I honestly don't know much behind the rationale of UK or NZ election delays.

My point is really to illustrate "information control".

Delaying the election is a fact.
However, terms like "eroding freedom" and "quashing dissent" are opinions/speculation presented together with fact to shape opinion.

Whether something is "ok" or not is subject to circumstance. It is not immutable. Opinions can and will change with time, contemporary attitudes, fashion, etc.

The news with respect to HK is ground zero for information battles right now.

A white American man pretending to be a Chinese man, "interviewing" himself pretending to be a different Chinese man for a book he wrote.
If this is not illustrative of the depth of information control/warfare, then nothing can be.

There is a theory, "the media is the message". Most English language media adopts an inherent West vs. East cultural superiority. If English culture did not hold a high position, you would be reading Chinese.

In NZ, it's felt that varying degrees of lockdown is preventing the opposition parties from being able to campaign fairly. Meanwhile, the government and the PM Adern are getting constant coverage from the COVID crisis.

I know he's not going to reply because he's blocked me. But for the rest of us here in the real world.

I would like to say the above quotes are the words of an uninformed man.

Goalposts changed again! Gee.

Back to reality, look at this guy taking part in the Hong Kong riots, he's got three jobs. He's a priest, he's also a medic, and finally....... guess what? ..... He's a journalist! Lol

View attachment 62592

Hong Kong police have finally given powers under national security to ban 'journalist' present at any incident if they credential is not correct! Hopefully, thus stop people like our priest here, and 13 year old posing as journalist!

He's a pedophile christian priest who fights for his western masters to contain China.

Well, here's your problem right there. Religious preachers instead of preaching God and gospel, direct their congregation into singing black cops, etc.

It's a good job Hong Kong still got good decent citizens worth fighting for!

Religious terrorists is more like it. These freaks has to have the entire world abide to their values or else they won't be happy or tolerate any differences.
