Carrie Lam delaying the 2020 election for a whole year in Hong Kong just on her say-so and without seeking a compromise with Opposition parties is completely different - even some of her political allies were just calling for a 3 month delay.
It's worth pointing out that the HKSAR doesn't have an opposition - there is the incumbent government and there are traitors, that's the political scene. Once those traitors are purged, a loyal opposition (don't even try any snark about the term "loyal opposition", it's an accepted term in parliamentary democracies as you well know) can spring up. One of the many benefits of the national security law.

it would be nice if those traitors could be either executed or permanently imprisoned or even sent to Greenland where they can enjoy all the freedom in the world since honestly, they are responsible for causing so much damage and for teaching children that apparently killing the elderly is a good thing, like what certain someone seems to think given that he tries so hard to paint the rioters in a positive light even though they have caused so much harm.

Dancing under the lamp posts a time honored route for traitors.
And also those that support traitors and pseudo journalists can join in as well.

The sheer hypocrisy is amazing with that chap.
The rubbish he can generate is so amusing.
Which is why I did not bother to block him .
For all we know, the guy , who is a priest, a medic, and a self styled journalist,
might well be also banging the keyboard in
our august forum as well.

It's incredible that someone here can have such a closed mind, that even confronted with hard facts and evidence that they still can conjure up some excuses by performing incredible mind gymnastics to justify his assertions and beliefs. In doing so, he came across as such a hypocrite!

Even our Blitzo with the patience of a saint have gave up on him with a short shift 'yes' reply! Lol.

However strangely, it's very entertaining, and every time he post, he evoke a mixture of anger, pity, amusement and disbelieve. So shanlung is right, you just can't block him!

Bearing in mind polls can have bias and errors, so take this with caution. Polls in Hong Kong showed majority in support of the "repressive China national security law"!

Here's the article;

Hong Kong, China – A poll released on Wednesday showed that 66 percent of Hong Kong residents are in support of the implementation of the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

The poll was conducted by Hong Kong Research Association between July 2 and July 5 through random telephone interviews with 1,097 Hong Kong residents aged at or above 18 years old, Xinhua reported. A total of 66 percent of the respondents said they are “very supportive” or “supportive” of the implementation of the law in Hong Kong.

Nearly 80 percent believe the implementation of the law in Hong Kong will not have a negative impact on the prospect of Hong Kong. About 63 percent of the polled are in support of the establishment of the Office for Safeguarding National Security of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

A total of 62 percent said they are “very supportive” or “supportive” of the law’s provision that the vast majority of cases concerning offenses endangering national security in Hong Kong will be handled by the HKSAR and the central authorities retain the jurisdiction over a very small number of serious cases.

A similar number of respondents are in support of the provision that the HKSAR chief executive shall designate a number of judges to handle cases concerning offenses endangering national security. Hong Kong Research Association said as it released the poll results that it is a common aspiration of the people to see the country flourishing and the people living in peace.

“Only in a secure and stable environment can Hong Kong residents’ legitimate rights and freedoms be guaranteed,” it added.

The polling agency called on the HKSAR government to strengthen public education and promotion to dispel the doubts of some Hong Kong residents and enhance people’s understanding of and support for the national security law, so as to create a favorable social atmosphere and public opinion basis for implementing and enforcing the law and safeguarding national security and Hong Kong’s stability.

As much as I would like to believe this poll is true, I have my doubt. Although I am hoping that after those rioters and their supporters flee HK, the fundamental changes of education and media in HK would alter the course in the HK. Moreover, more mainlanders should migrant to HK to dilute some of the extremists stronghold in universities, finance, accountants, lawyers, doctors, nurses, and reporters.

I actually think this is reasonable. Like all political situation including us and the UK. There's always a hard-core of around a third of people supporting and another third opposing with a third in the middle awaiting to be persuaded one way or another.

Look at Trump, he's making a mess of the covid 19, with his relationships with allies and advisories alike. Yet, he still maintain a hard-core of around a third that will support him come what may.

In a democratic situation it us always the middle ground that one need to be persuaded.

In the case of Hong Kong, with a year long seige by the rioters literally holding Hong Kongers to ransom, it is no surprise that the remaining third at softening to lean on the side of the national security law. These third has had enough!
