Machine learning super-resolution algorithms may be able to resolve much finer detail than 10cm even though the optics cant.

Imagine a known license plate viewed from space and from a drone, at 10cm and 1cm resolution respectively. Then train a model with the 10cm image as input and the 1cm image as output and you effectively train the model to produce images at a higher resolution.

The model predicts what a 1cm resolution image would look like given the 10cm resolution image it actually sees.

^Yes, but I meant an unknown plate and no 1cm UAV image to train the algorithm; purely the optics, no AI, wouldn't be able to read the plate.

What is the reason for that? Everything is ready. Just land the planes for this CV for testing. They can remove the planes for maintenance later.
