Oh Jura your Slant slays me....
The F35 only fits so many mission sets the US in total intends to buy over 2440 units. Barring national emergency. The aircraft it’s aimed to replace becoming less Mission Capable as time progresses. Well improvements continue down the line for the F35. It’s not the Lockheed Martin lobby its the services mission needs.

things may actually get worse than what you described: if the LockMart lobby is able to push three thousand F-35s and the Pentagon will have to get rid of its other (= functioning) aircraft
The problem with the F-35 was that it was designed to replace everything so it is by definition a monopoly aircraft, and early on they decided that developing alternatives like two or more engines was "inefficient", but ironically by making it more efficient they have eliminated all internal competition, so there is a provider and they have no competitors or experts with internal knowledge of what they are doing and how they are doing it so you can think of a number and then triple it, and then double it again and that is the asking price. Because it is a multiple of what it actually costs you can show some flexibility and reduce it a little when they put the thumbscrews on you, but even after hours of waterboarding you still make a nice profit and that is all you really care about. If you are not making enough about half way into production or if faults are found then ask for more money to find solutions, or just say the cost of making the product to the standard needed has gone up... it is OK... no one ever checks.

the best is your last sentence LOL want me to link what? new Super Hornet order or money for A-10 parts?

actually I'd be able to link some time ago (several years) more F-35s were appropriated than even the Pentagon had wanted; want me to find the link?

A10 is retained for congressional pork.

F/A18E-F Rino Hornet were not targets for F35 replacement that was the F18A-D the legacy Hornet. As such production continues and improvements continue on Rino well legacy Suffers from its antiquated nature.
F/A18E-F orders continue as a mission filler for the Naval higher end machine until F/A-XX.

But he is not an Airforce.

No but he had a minimum expectation of 80% operability, and as low as that sounds, in actuality its a very tall order.. I like Mad Dog, that was a big loss....
