Do you have the source on this info? Also what do you mean with shell here, can you be more specific since the projectile inside the shell is what matter anyway. You mean 30% decrease of penetration from APFSDS or maybe from HEAT or both? 30% is believable though since it's in the same ballpark with the russian relikt ERA.

GJB-2336A, 2014
3.4.2 “III型反应装甲对深为600mmRHA、口径为125mm穿甲弹(以下简称125MM穿甲弹)的穿深降低不小于30%。”
Translation: Type III (referring to FY4) is supposed to eliminate the penetration of a 125mm AP, which has 600mm RHA penetration, by no less than 30%.

The experimental details are listed in 4.4.5.1.2.

True Final version. Changed some names to make it easier to understand. Changed some of the format to make it look like the original post (and cooler). Removed cursor. Remade the image to make it slightly smaller without changing its resolution.

I dunno if I should say this, but I re-translated this form again, according to official terms of Norinco, and changed some of the format. Please forgive my former inaccurate translations, and I apologize if it made it difficult to understand for you guys. Please feel free to ask me if there's still anything confusing.

As always, change .txt to .png to view image.

Obj-477 also releases some information here as well (the fact that 15 uses FY5 is released here).

translation of the last sentence: BTW the new light tank uses 5th gen ERA.

BTW this post is about an article about the Type 15, written by Taiwan, which is actually very objective compared to some other Taiwan articles. Except that it said M1A2T's KE was 850, and the weight of the Type 15 was 36t (which is actually the full weight of VT5, the actual weight of Type 15 should be 30t (version without ERA, for example the version showed in the 2019 parade) or 33t (version with FY5, which has been frequently exposed in various official magazines and on the internet)).

BTW i tried to measure the thickness of FY5 in the ZTQ15 post by naked eye and it seems that its length×width×thickness is roughly
(250±5mm, or 400±30mm)×(155±15mm)×(150±10mm), which is nearly twice the thickness of FY4 so I guess it probably either uses multiple layered <Duplet> styled energy-gathering-effect ERA modules (along with metal plates), or it simply uses some new mechanism.

I, II and III represents FY1, FY2 and FY4 respectively. the parameters are length×width×thickness.

PS: I've never found any essays related to FY5 so if somebody has one please share it.

PPS: I'm new here so I don't yet really know how much people in this forum are simply interested in Chinese military technologies or are they in favor of China, or if they see China as an enemy, so please tell me something about that.

So the turret cheek armor the M1A2C Taiwan export variant AKA M1A2 T has a turret cheek protection value of roughly 850 mm RHAe against KE projectiles?

I mean those were the things the article was wrong about.
Murica would definitly not give them a tank which is comparable to their domestic versions.

Just some random comment in the post here:

"Unexpectedly reliable except for the weight"
So the article is actually quite reliable except that it says that M1A2T has 850KE and ZTQ15 weighs 36 tons.

看了一圈,网上和VT3外贸坦克相关的全部信息都算是现实重构的佳作了,找不到任何与之相左的内容,曾经我也确实以为它就是个59改.( 然而.....

Translation:
Searched on the internet for a while, all VT3-relevant information in the web are nice in an alternative-reality, there's even no info contradicting to them. I myself even thought it was a 59 modified version before. (while in reality...

Comments Q & A:
Q: What exactly is a VT3?
A: The thing in the picture.

Obviously this is a Type 99, second-phase version. (differentiate from 99A) (I dunno how you guys call this thing but back in China this is called 99二期改,identified by its turret shape, the location of the cockpit and it's flat turret top. We here technically have no Type 98, the version seen on the 1999 parade is called "Third-generation tank for the 9910 program, nicknamed Type 99".

Do you have a high-resolution image of this chart available including a translation into English ?
Here's the official final translated version.

I don't see anyone translating this, so once again a fan-only post by 477.
(Actually the fan-only posts are regularly leaks of interesting informative photos.)
