Lots more evidence. An election is not a referendum; many issues -- not just rioter support -- are usually on the table. And a large turnout could simply be the result of heavy advertising in media outlets like Apple Daily. Anyhow, you can't claim overwhelming support for the rioters when the pan-dems increased their votes by just 8 percentage points.

In contrast, my stance -- that the cockroaches are losing their appeal -- rests on several independent lines of evidence.

(1) Recent large, vocal outpourings of support for the Hong Kong police.

(2) Shortage of normal people at many recent demonstrations, so that the rioters were lonely and exposed.

(3) The insult "cockroaches" becoming popular for the thugs.

Against these lines of evidence you raise only an ambiguous election result. I seriously doubt that the voters were supporting violence. They may want attention from Beijing, as the cockroaches clearly do, but they reject the violent approach.

The pan-Dems camp made this election as a referendum. HK people knew exactly what it means to vote for the pan-Dems. Media outlets have always tried in every election to get people to vote but the turnout is historic only in this one. I never said that the pan-Dems camp has overwhelming support.

1. It is not enough. At least not yet.
2. It could also mean the moderates are tired and exhausted and taking a temporary break. The real question is "how much will it take for these moderates to come out protesting again." Not that much, more propaganda, more lies, more emotional appeals would do it. The pan-Dems camp just need to find the right timing and right stuffs to reignite the fire.
3. Base on what. Nothing has changed on the FB, youtube, LIHKG, GOLDEN, or TG.

These aren't evidence. You are just cherry pick what you want to see and believe. Does it matter if those voters support violence or not. Those voters have voted for parties that support violence. That's what really count. How do you know they reject violent approach? You have offered nothing to prove that. And the outpouring of support for the police only means 42% of the HK people decided to speak out more loudly. We are talking the 58% of the HK people who voted for the pan-Dems camp, can you prove that they don't support violence.

Has China actually done anything after Trump signed that law? They and gave all kinda warnings but so far nothing has happened. If they don't do anything i'm betting US will turn the heat... maybe insurgency in Xianjing.
