That's why it is absurd that the HK government keeps appointing these judges in the name of impartiality. The HK government needs to take an active roles to appoint judges and fill important positions. As when the shit hits the fan, the HK government would be all alone without any allies if they keep playing the impartial and small government game.
As for Carrie Lam, unless the justice department decided to prosecute her or the ICAC decided to charge her for corruption, there really not much the oppositions can do.
I agree common law system in HK is mainly geared towards enabling MNC's to make money in HK, with secondary emphasis on keeping the city and citizens safe.
If British common law judiciary system can't tell apart from a thug and a political activist, what's the use of it in case of national level crisis? Would any other common wealth nations practicing the same basis of law tolerate such level of violence for such prolonged period time? Would they tolerate those alleged protesters destroying public and private properties alike, physically injuring unarmed common people, seriously threatening local way of life? Would their media portray them as peaceful protesters?
1C2S is toothless as well to save the city and its common people. Too much shirking of responsibilities of those in high office. It's the damn time to resolve it, show your strength, not time to save own sorry asses from blame. HKPF is the unsung hero's here taking the brunt of crisis and blame. They are the real patriots trying to save the city!
