Hong-Kong Protests

Good article, nice find.

(Emphasis added.)

Exactly. The Ukrainians were fooled by Western fantasies of "democracy and freedom"; now the Ukraine is poorer than some countries in Africa. And more chaotic.

The Ukraine was democratic before its Maidan revolution, and now it has almost nothing. Hong Kong is democratic now; and if the rioters succeed in forcing a revolution, what will the island have?

Yes, go north -- on internships.

Yep. Victoria Nuland from the US stirred Ukraine up and now Ukraine is a shell of its former self.

Now we got Judith from US consulate stirring it up with Joshua Wong. So it would be long, Hong Kong will go the sane way. Already tourisum is down 40%

Learning Mandarin or Cantonese is not as difficult as you think, if you know one of the dialects already (so the use of tones seems natural to you).

The written language is mostly the same in either case, though the mainland's simplified Chinese is slightly different from the traditional writing.

There is also grammar. The word order is the same in mandarin and cantonese. Where as in the european langage is not.

For ecample:

In english where you come from. Where as in german is wo hier commt sie (spelling could be wrong as it is long time since I was at college) which translate into: where here come you. The "you" is at the end!

So much for democracy and peaceful protest. Another citzen getting a beating for daring to disagree.

I don't know who's worse. The thugs doing the beating or the press taking photos, and not stopping the beatings. Yet they don't release these photos in the MSM.

I understand at this point that Beijing has decided to let these people do as many atrocious things to discredit themselves as possible but I think that at some point, Chinese forces have to come in and support our patriots. Getting beaten up by thugs in your own country for loving the nation and having no support from the government is disheartening and I'm starting to see why my girlfriend felt that, "They won't send troops to help us because they don't care about us." I don't know how much more hatred against the rioters and evidence of their wrong-doings Beijing is waiting for before they act, but personally, I can think of no pleasure in this world greater than catching a group of rioters beating on one patriot and then surrounding them, slowly closing in with our steel clubs (or just bare fists if they are unarmed), and looking into their eyes, deaf to their squealing crying pleas, savoring their fear, as they know they won't survive the next few minutes... because we aren't cops and we have no restraint.

It's amusing to not read a single comment from any of the freedom supporters on the violent behaviour by the 'protestors'.

OTOH, they scream through the roofs against police 'brutalities'.

'Freedom' is a funny thing. It makes you see invisible things and oblivious to tangible ones.

I know, is unbelievable! This same people will jumped at China's throat for not "upholding law and order", yet remain strangely silent when all these violence from the mob .

A certain member from down south have been only posting "news", or more accurately propaganda without any commentary, which is against the rules.

Its funny, this member keeps posting these MSM propaganda, notice not one of these publication EVER show violence from the rioters (notice too, they are never labeled rioters, alway demostrators or even "peaceful demostrators").

His posting it here as if we somehow are not aware what the MSM are publishing! Lol. This is where we are more knowledgable, more informed and less bias than people like him. Because he only ever read from one source! (he even admit here on this forum that he dorsn't read what we post, yet he feel oblige to share and expect us to read what he post). In his arrogance, he is not even aware that because most of us is bilingual, we read MSM as well as other publication, thus we are for more informed than he ever will be!

This is why he thinks all this violence from the thugs are just "protest in another form"!

Great anti-protestor stuff in here. There's an extended video of the firebomb that went awry and burned one of their own. Again I watch these protestors throw their firebombs and why are they wussy throws? And no one was behind that barricade. Did they go to the Jimmy Lai school of terrorism? It's like they think they're under fire.

While everything you say is true. I think you miss the point as the protest is not primarily about those daily grievances except maybe for the last one dealing with property destruction, etc. I have yet to see protest placard stating they want more affordable housing or health care or baby formulas.

I also agree that there are deficiencies with the HK authorities specially when they are unable to legislate and pass a simple extradition treaty with a perfectly good reason to uphold justice for Poon Hiu-Wing. I still think it was a bad idea to suspend and withdraw the bill but it is over. I'm afraid their ability to govern in general and to reform education, judiciary and social programs have been greatly compromised through this act.

Anyway, the recurring theme and primary motivator for most of the protest can be summarized in picture below. HK is now a fertile breeding ground for Anti-China elements. The social aspect, while perhaps valid, are incidental reasons used by press to narrate and justify the violence without having to mention the blatant discrimination and bullying.

Crying like a baby when caught! Such a revolutionary, Che would be proud!

I agree with you, I would send in the troup and crash all these thugs and send all teachers and judges to the gulags!

But I do think China is playing the long game here. China knows this is exactly what the US and its allies are after all along! So why play their game. Although like you, I'm impatient, but I think China know what its doing.
