Interestingly the shaping has minor effect regarding of the semi active radar homing, that works as a bistatic radar, and the missile dogleg the target anyway.
Drones very in size and a number of them working in concert cane make a large array.

That’s where Datalink and computer power comes in.
This claim is quite interesting.

It is relatively easy to falsify without any radar knowledge.

If the airborne radars can connected into a big aperture , then ground based radars can make way easier a big aperture as well.

And of course the ground based radars doesn't have restriction in size(due to drag) weight ,and a simple small truck can transport them around the town instead of an expensive airframe.

So this claim doesn't change the fact the ground based radars has power/capability and every other possible advantage against an airborne one(s) (apart from the radar horizon of course : D)


But specifically, this big, swarm radar exist only in the movie scripts and Lockheed advertisement materials for the Capitol.

You can't datalink radio wave phases.

India is paying $8.88 Billion for 36 Rafales i.e. $245 million per plane. That said, absent specific details it is rather meaningless. New acquisitions include significant start up cost like training, basic infrastructure, tooling, spares, weapons et al.

In the case of Poland it is unlikely that the acquisition cost per plane will be any different to other nations and that is dependent on the production lot and the pricing thereof.

First, The AESA in the head of a missile is small microscopic compared to that of a fighter.
It has a smaller range of vision and would have to be at point blank to make a attack. Chaff at a distance may be effective enough as even the latest state of the art Air to air missiles cant turn on a dime and give change. As they change and maneuver they loose fuel and speed. A missile may be stated to have a long range but that’s only in optimum conditions and a straight line.

As we should know F35 is VLO, This means that vs a Radar even a So called “Anti-stealth radar” have reduced range vs attack The Estamate I have seen for the Vaunted S400 is about 400 km vs a non low observable but vs VLO its estimated optimistically to be about 120km-140 km. The Radar Emissions of course go farther than that but the return is such even with an AESA that it has to be that close if not closer.
F35 was designed to intercept and warn against radar threats. The X band to target appropriate radars and ALE 70 to do so as well and decoy in bound missiles.
the long in service HARM missile has a range of 150 km, The next gen version The AAGRM-ER would have even longer and be F35 compatible. F35 has both a IR missile warning system Radar warning receivers built across it’s wing span These are in essence a receiver array as wide as the F35’s wing span.
All the data from that is shared across the formation. It’s doesn’t need to share the radio waves only what it sees of it. This is limited only by the range of the data link. This means that the F35 is more likely to know of the radar than the radar is of the F35.
And it has options. Including the kill.
The Early warning radar systems that have been pushed to try and extend the range beyond the 120-140 km cant tell the difference between a pair of F35 or a swarm of drones this is because, what they “see” is the resonance of the the thinner Ram primarily on the tail but even then it’s a bit of Mr. Magoo vision. It’s a blurry picture. Small radar targets like Drones with thin tail materials and in numbers would appear to blur in the same way.

my conjecture is the F-35 on-board diagnostics is at last-century level, so it can't cope with something THAT over-overgineered, but can't be upgraded either

digital support backbone, the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS), to a native-cloud architecture by year’s end and field it in 2020.

A joint government and industry team tested an early version of the new framework in both lab and flight test environments in May, company spokesman Mike Friedman said in a Sept. 11 statement to Aerospace DAILY.

“By moving all ALIS applications to a cloud-native, open architecture, we can rapidly develop and test pieces of ALIS without having to load the entire system for each upgrade,” he said. “And instead of aggregating many fixes over a 12- to 18-month period into a single upgrade, the new approach allows developers to create, test, receive feedback and implement fixes every few weeks while reducing development and fielding costs.”

The new construct still must be tested in an operational environment so that developers can garner user feedback to refine their approach.

Separately, the newest ALIS software release, 3.1.1, is saving pilots an average of 35 min. in report generation and review. The new software release also is saving maintainers 40 min. each day in report generation and several hours weekly in managing fleet directive reports, he added.

“This latest release leverages the development work Lockheed Martin completed in 2018 with its internal investment funding,” Friedman said. “In 2018, Lockheed Martin invested approximately $50 million in ALIS and will continue investing approximately $180 million through 2021 to modernize ALIS and enhance enterprise sustainment systems.”

Extrapolated across the enterprise of more than 425 aircraft flying today, it will save more than 20,000 manhours annually. Lockheed Martin has invested in additional time saving and efficiency ALIS automations and is working with the government on implementation and fielding plans, Friedman said.

As a back up to the decoy or for use when the ALE-70 isn’t deployed, the F-35 pilot also can dispense chaff to fool radar--guided missiles.

The F-35 also carries MJU-61 magnesium flares to counter incoming missiles guided by an infrared seeker.

Keyworld : back up. Chaff will be used only if there is no towed decoy.

S300/400 has a plethora of radars on every possible frequency between 0.3-12GHz.
Example Iran bought three different type (at least) radar for its S300, and each firing unit has 3 launchers and 2 different frequency radar.

Now, the quoted data is for the X band radar, NOT for the lower frequency ones.

The semi active radar homing doesn't have AESA , but an antenna array in the nose, and its looking for the radar coded emission to found the target.

The equation for monostatic radars using the 1/range^4 equation, but the semi active seeker using 1/((radar distance)^2*(missile distance)^2) equation (bistatic).
Means if the small missile head can get 1 km close to the airplane then it will see it ,regardless of ram,shaping or nationality of the aircraft.
The low frequency radars can guide the missile to a km big box from 200-400 km. Without trouble.


And the "drone swarm" can be easily sorted out with different band radars.
The size of the drones small , means they will resonate for different frequencies than the big airplane.
A monopulse VHF / S band radar will sort out the drones from the f35 ,without any trouble.


You can try it as well, use the car remote (0.8-1m wavelength, depends on country ) on different test postures on the edge of its rang.
If the shape of the body will be right compared to the quarter wavelength then it will resonate, and amplify the radio emission (compared to the standalone emission) .

That happens if the object size is comparable to the wavelength of the radar. (less than 10 wavelength )

Based off the SPEAR 3 concept which takes parts of the Brimstone adds wings and a mini P&W engine for a loitering or mini cruise missile. Now apparently adding decoy and Electronic warfare.
