And why should China care? China is the second most powerful country in the world and challenging No. 1, the US, without their acceptance. Those that think their acceptance is important are behind China. When has anyone ever accepted China and look at where China is at? Everyone else... knows their place literally and that's why China has been able to surpass them. If their acceptance was that important China would be nowhere because no one is siding with China. That's how more powerful China is because no rich country can impose their will on China. Rich countries are looking like fools thinking they can take on China.

As expected, the only criteria to be listed and banned as a ‘Chinese government controlled disinformation account’ is to post in favour of China (or apparently not enough against in the case highlighted).

This ban was reinforced even after the account holder got in touch, and the ban was only removed before the media got involved.

So much for freedom of speech.

Well it's not surprising since Twitter and Facebook charged these accounts were falsely accusing protestors as being violent. Remember this is the Trump era where don't believe what your lying eyes are seeing. We've seen video's of protestor violence. They're harassing old people walking by minding their own business. Remember Twitter a couple months ago wanted to eliminate in general fake accounts so they had an algorithm to do just that. It flagged 4 or 5 times more anti-China accounts than pro-China accounts. The US complained and Twitter reopened those fake accounts.

Well, here is the issue. Yes, Hong Kong is definitely part of China, and HKers know that. However, Christianity, combined with HKers' strong believe in Locke's "unalienable rights" and the superiority of the Anglo-Saxon legal system, refuse to integrate with China. 2047 is not that far away, so Liberal-minded HKers youngsters are the most radical for putting up a last fight to force Beijing give as much as concessions as possible, including universal suffrage (to protect HKers' self-perceived inalienable rights) and limitation to Mainland tourists (due to difference over identity). HKers desire independence like Singapore, but they know Beijing won't allow that without a fight, so I think they might be using the word "independence" (and waving colonial-era flags) as a negotiation tactic against Beijing. In other words, HKers are waging their own maximum pressure campaign against Beijing to extract more concessions.
Seeing as how they haven't gotten any concessions, attempting to get more concessions is quite an ambition LOL. They can only lose from here and push the 2047 date forward; there is no other outcome. And if they think that they won't go independent "without a fight," I guess then the only thing to do is to show them that even with any amount of fighting, there is no independence. Perhaps it's simply a matter of making them understand Beijing better. It will take more than nuclear warfare to wrest an inch of Chinese territory. Just a matter of misunderstanding? LOL
They know Beijing probably would not use force, as doing so mean inviting all Western countries to sanction Beijing, triggering massive capital flights and economic collapse.
Economic collapse? That's your imagination. China's economy is 3/4th domestic consumption growing by nearly 10% a year. Western toxic media has made you think that China is far weaker than it is and you have not used your thought to challenge it.
Amid the U.S.-China Trade War, I suspect HKers know that now is the best time to pressure Beijing as much as possible since Beijing is in a relatively weak geopolitical situation.
Where is the weakness? I have shown you time and time again that your perceptions are incorrect but it's getting quite annoying that you come back and reassert your defeated, nonsense points as assumptions! Actually, on the modern world stage, China has never been stronger militarily or held as much economic clout. This is not refutable. As the saying goes, if China sneezes, the world catches a cold. In the dire time of a possible upcoming global recession, China is the only shining light to prevent it; these counties with teetering "growth" would do well to be on its good side.

Why do you ask for rich? LOL We're not begging for money! Russia is China's most powerful ally and it is about as powerful an ally as you could want. But in this domestic issue, no allies are needed nor can they be effective.

It is now pretty clear that Twitter is just a mouthpiece of the US government.

Exactly! Many people simply go for emotional responses, without examining whether those responses are rational.

China does have the support of rich countries, or is Singapore neither rich nor a country? However, what does Singapore's support bring China? Pretty much nothing. It's really quite irrelevant.

I think Josh Luo simply watches too much Western media.

Singapore was never part of China politically Hongkong has always been part of China So you not comparing the same thing
I don't think China is afraid of Turmoil due to Hongkong crack down In past HOngkong make about 20% of China GDP bu now it is only 35 very insignificant China influence and profile has risen so much over the years it become indispensable for the rest of the world and not the other way around
But you cannot crackdown on the wimp unless they use force to advocate open rebellion there is no crackdown once they cross the redline then all bet are off

This is true, and the Anglo-Saxon would indeed continue to squeeze their perceived opponents no matter what. However, the problem with the PRC is that it has an elites that is rotting the country from within, a threat that could hurt the ordinary Chinese people more than Anglo-Saxons. The Anglo-Saxon world order was merciless toward the Russian people, but so were President Yeltsin and his cronies, who stole Russian people's money and bought almost every property around Hyde Part in London.
I am an ordinary Chinese with all my families in China. I can speak for all of them and myself that "the worst Chinese government is better than any foreign government". It is simple, because the worst Chinese government still cares for or fears of the Chinese people, so it will have to act accordingly. A foreign government has ZERO of that care or fear but everything to gain from destroying every Chinese.

I am really puzzled by how you could have reached that conclusion (if you are a Chinese who has every bits of material interest in China). I can only conclude that you are not Chinese, or you don't see yourself as a Chinese, therefor you are not on the same boat with ordinary Chinese. At least I could easily say the same thing "your government will hurt your more than CCP", not because I want to childishly hit you back, but because I as a foreigner/outsider really don't care if you are hurt or not. You have to realize that at the end people's judgement is based on which boat they are on, and apparently we are not on the same boat.

If any Chinese is disappointed with CCP, they should revolt like what has happened in the past, BUT never ever for a second to believe in what you just said.
