Gives weight to the USN Admiral's comment -
China is set to control all domains of contingencies in the south china sea short of only direct war with US.
Certainly, the local spat with Vietnam will be taken care of very easily if it ever arises considering the paracel islands.

I share a comment I recently made on the Ask anything thread;

China doesn't operate any Zubr, but four Type 958 hovercrafts from the ukrainian project 958 "Bizon". As such it would be more appropriate to rename this thread correctly.

I'm pretty sure this is the third time you say to me this exact sentence, word by word. I'm not trying to be a hero, but just to share with people the extremely limited knowledge I have and eventually put this knowledge to use like I just did.

Now I will gently ask you to stop being cancerous with me thanks.

The project 958 "Bizon" is simply a version/variant of the Zubr. China entered a deal with Ukraine, but then Russia annexed Crimea (where the shipyard that made the ships was operating). China then paid the now Russian shipyard for the ships, and moved the whole contract/order to Russia, from the Ukraine.

It is both technically and formally incorrect to state that PLAN does not operate Zubr class hovercraft.

Project 958 is the ukrainian version of the soviet Project 12323. It is made by UKROBORONPROM for export. in 2009 Ukraine and the PRC signed an agreement for the supply of four 958s, under the terms of which two ships should be built in China.

I wasn't refering to the technical aspect when saying that China doesn't operate any Zbur, but how the name "Zbur" was not appropriated; that's the name of the Soviet and now russian version. It is even more contradictory when China/Chinese medias call its hovercrafts "958型海军">Type 958 hovercraft, a direct reference to the ukrainian Project 958.
