The San antonio class has a much larger vehicle bay, which is also structured in a three floor pattern (only 2 for the type 071).

There is absolutely no doubt that the Type 071 LPD is a very capable platform

Multiple compartments with penalty of equipment storage and carrying capacity

The doubt is on the LCAC which is fundamental to LPD assault capability even more for over the horizon

Actually there is no doubt, LCAC has been a failure and hinders the amphibious capability of the PLAN

Type 071 has compartment forward of the well deck and above interlinked

Your image isn't very realistic as there is actually a lift between the two floors, and it's unknown if the second floor can actually hold tanks.

But this discussion shouldn't be here. type 071 has its own page.

18 months later and 8 x LCAC have been sitting at JNCX collecting dust

If this doesn’t prove a serious problem with the LCAC I don’t know what does

Old photo from the days when the sky snows and the northern winds chill down the bone with Xue Long II and Yuan Wang 7 depicted in this photo. At least a quarter of year has passed since then. An out-dated data with photo evidence shows at least 11 LCACs are in service with PLAN.

(yes, out-dated data is not a typo, we don't know the latest up-dated data yet).

The water is caked with white coloured thin ice, except near the bridge where dark water exist because of hot discharged waste water from the manufacturing plants. Ice formed in cold winter and early spring.
