The PLAN LCAC Type 726 Yuyi Class

This is nothing but a matter of time. What I would actually like to see is 2 columns of HMMWVs loaded simultaneously. Scratch that. What I would actually like to see is a new 726B variant that has the same carrying capacity as the LCAC.

The LCAC uses four turbines of smaller diameter, thus giving more deck space for cargo. Type 762, unfortunately, will never have the same cargo area so long it continues to larger turbines.

That's solely dependent on the ability to up-rate the QC-70.
Actually, it doesn't at all depend on up-rating the QC-70. 3 full columns of 4 fully-loaded HMMWVs (12 vehicles) at 3.5 tons each still only comes out to 42 tons, which is less than the weight of a single Type 96 MBT. As by78 pointed out it depends entirely on designing and manufacturing a smaller, more power-dense GT.

Or uprating QC-70 and making 726 wider.

Possibly, but this seems an unlikely option as 071 and 075 well decks are probably designed with only 726 dimensions in mind. I doubt they built much if any room for ACV expansion in size.

Sores of units

Well, even if you discount the possibility that the photos may have been taken at different times and therefore possibly could include pictures of the same units in different places, I count 14 units if they are all individual.

I am not sure they have built that many...but they are certainly capable of doing so. Even then, with six LPDs, each capable of carry four units, they will need more than the 14 units we see in these pictures.

But 14 is a significant increase over what we have sen to date.

still, they do not rate as "scores" of unit because one score would equal 20 units.

I count 10 x Type 726 LCAC in this low resolution photo

China’s has commissioned 10 units so far

Is this the 10 commissioned units or 10 new builds

3320 was seen on one of them which means these are likely commissioned units

Question then becomes why are these assets sitting in port for months on end collecting dust when they should be out on missions ??

Why is China building these white elephants

A white elephant refers to something frequently large and invariably expensive. These ACVs don't really qualify. And Chinese is building them because it plans to use them.
