Dear members,

I was reading an article about QF-16 aircraft's of USAF for real full size target practice exercises.

Wanted to know about China's equivalent for Ariel target practice. Can any one shed some light on this area related to China's practices.

So creating this thread for any pertinent info. & discussions.

Not to sound picky or anything of that nature, I think you meant "aerial", not Ariel the name.
LOL yeah Deino

Called the BA-5, it is converted from the J-6 (Mig-15) airframe to serve as a target drone. There is no indication AFAIK of any newer airframes being converted into target drones just yet. And you can be sure that none of the J-10s are going to face such a fate just yet.

Also the J-7, converted into a drone as well.

That's not entirely correct: the BA-5 is neither a J-6 nor a MiG-15 but in fact a J-5 aka MiG-17.

Following the BA-6 there were several - if not hundred - J-6 aka MiG-19 converted into drones but AFAIK more as non-flying targets or as J-6W UCAVs.

To admit I fully understand your thoughts and I completely agree with you, but after I already changed the name accordingly I got quite a harsh reply from Jeff, who's responsible for the Naval section ... and he decided that way.

My proposal would be to get in contact with him directly and once again, again and again bring this issue on the table.

Best,
Deino

So it is, thanks for the rectification.

thanks for letting me know, if it's being addressed, I of course shut up

what I dislike though is when issues are ignored or 'wished away' (for example when you Mods were unable to put time lock on individuals last Fall etc.), then yeah I have a tendency to do something LOL
