Seems that the Turks do not bother to hide although they were pretty loud if not louder in defending these terrorists when they (the terrorists) were in China, and tried so hard to bring them to Turkey from Thailand and other SE Asian countries.

I would have expected that Turkey wanting to hide it more than BBC to avoid the embarrassment.

There is wanting and being able to.

This is a high profile case, with a lot of public interest and scrutiny in Turkey, so they cannot realistically hope to cover up the origin of the attacker without a massive cover up and pinning the blame on someone else and letting the real purp go free.

The risks of doing so doesn't come close to being justified by the small amount of embarrassment the revelations will cause, especially if the Turkish media is instructed to never mention the Turkish government's past support for Uighur terrorists.

For the UK, there is less public interest and scrutiny, which is probably why they think they can get away with it.

(I remember Ari Fleisher, he was in the White House at the time I had lived in the US

• Multiple reports on social media -- including tweets from former White House spokesman Ari Fleischer, described the shooting.)

Maybe the US should drop its demand that countries choose a side. Even when it's not declared by another country Americans assume it and then they get embarrassed like here or like what happened with the Philippines. I remember reading all these articles about how Obama opening diplomatic relations with Cuba was a huge blow to China simply because the logic was Cuba agreeing to open relations meant that it was rejecting China in favor of the US. No maybe they're just having relations with both countries? And like in this article... does it really mean Cuba chooses Trump over Obama? Look at Myanmar. Remember how there was supposedly this huge geopolitical shift simply because Aung San Suu Kyi won power? She shows the same ethnic hatreds towards minorities as the previous governments that the US criticized in the first place. I'm sure the State Department is thinking about Duterte of the Philippines right now after too much criticism over human rights abuses backfired.

Or better yet the US (both media and government forces) should drop using "human rights issues" as a tool for geopolitical negotiating or intimidation through shaming other countries all together.

Well said, you and AssassinsMace. Amazing how China has learned being pragmatic while the majority of the western world have gone so far being idealistic. Almost the opposite of what it was in the 70s.
