No, not. The drawing is a mixture of few facts (old Liaoning-shape island) and much more dreams (Type 001A-shape carrier with waist catapult).

It will be quite something to see the two of them operating together in a year or two. They may have Liaoning escort 001A her out for her first trials as a PR thing...I'd like to see that.

Think so to.
India did it aswell, and China is an even prouder nation.
They have accomplished something big with 001A

From Henri K Qingdao naval base is enlarged and so do Linshui airbase in Hainan. The question why have 2 home ports one in Qingdao and one in Sanya?

The recent satellite images of TerraServer, dated November 11, 2016, show that the work began at the Guzhenkou naval base, 50 km southwest of Qingdao City, to build a second aircraft carrier dock.

The first aircraft carrier dock in Guzhenkou, completed in 2012, is 120 m wide and 580 m long. The Chinese aircraft carrier Laioning joined the facility shortly after admission to active duty in September 2012.

It can be seen from the satellite images that the prefabricated caissons were deposited at sea some 360 m west of the existing wharf and the backfilling appears to be underway to construct a second wharf, apparently of the same length as the first .

The construction of this second dock Guzhenkou is undoubtedly anticipating receiving the new aircraft carrier Type 001A ,

, the Chinese navy by 2019.

It should be noted that another carrier dock exists since 2013 on the island of Hainan, in the South of China. He welcomed the aircraft carrier Liaoning for the first time in late November 2013, when it conducted its first exercise in the South China Sea with ships escort.

The aircraft carrier dock at the naval base of Sanya, on the island of Hainan.

And not far from the naval base in Sanya, Lingshui Air Base - which is based fighter aircraftJ-11B and fighter bombers JH-7A of the 9th division aviation of the Chinese navy - is busy Be enlarged as well.

Not only the existing tracks seem to have been modified, work has also been undertaken on the new adjacent land, suggesting that a significant extension is underway.

It is therefore not excluded that the aircraft embarked will join this air base when the Chinese aircraft carriers will be based in Sanya in the years to come.

I guess this is how you built a pier by lowering precast concrete block in parallel and close the opening then add the pier

Couple of new pictures uploaded today. We can see that most of the scaffolding is off the hull now, just waiting for them to paint the hull and polish up the island and flight deck a little. I think launch timeframe will be in line with existing predictions, i.e. some time in February to April.
