? What makes you say that?

Only two have been identified...
Don't force our friend Asif to reveal his source.:D
If my memory serves me right, Asif has made firm statements (at least twice) regarding construction of 055 before photos shown up in this forum when others were still debating whether rumors of 055 building ceremony were real or not.

I think more than a few of us made firm statements on photos of that ceremony suggesting it was legitimate...

As for 3-4 055s under construction, we only have rumours and photos to go off, and I haven't read any rumours or seen any photos to suggest there are that many under active construction. "Only" 2.

So I'm wondering if he's either speculating himself or if he has misinterpreted a previous photo or something.

Just to re-iterate, we only have photographic evidence of 2 055's under construction. Now i know some say that 4 have been ordered, but that doesn't mean all 4 are under construction now, and if so where are the other 2? Dalian perhaps, but we havn't seen evidence of that either.
Can JN shipyard actually handle such a workload, together with all the other work on 052D's and other civilian ships.
Is there even space to build 4 055'S at once, and where are all these so called skilled shipyard workers supposed to come from?
I'll wait until i see some evidence first, until then its only 2 055's. ;)

Yes, I don't know where asif pulled the idea that 3-4 055s are under construction from, which is why I asked him.

There have been credible rumours that there will be four 055s in the first "batch" whatever that means, but nothing to suggest that 3-4 are under construction right now at the same time.

At present the only evidence we have is of two 055s under construction at JN, unit 1 whose modules we saw about early-mid this year and whose hull modules has completed assembly and is awaiting assembly of topside modules, and unit 2 whose modules we first saw in October. Both unit 1 and unit 2 also appear to be a single construction "line" at JN.

Maybe this first batch is non-IEP and the next batch is going to be IEP. That would be a reasonable flight distinction IMO.

Yeah that is how many rumours in the past have put it -- first batch of four being COGAG, later ships IEPS.

But we're still at an early stage so these things may end up being fluid in terms of numbers.
