and now it seems confirmed they (Rebels/Turks) began shelling (just not to forget what they're up to:

) anyway my prediction is they'll encircle first (Mosul, Iraq hasn't been encircled yet, something I'm not getting ... nonsensical "storming" from the east, for the show of TV crews feeding gullible public,

EDIT actually not even the photo-ops always went as planned: https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/is...o-oped-no-politics.t6913/page-467#post-423476

had happened there instead)

It seems to me the timing of the Mosul and Raqqah offensives had more to do with the US elections than with the readiness of the forces concerned. The Independent carries a pessimistic article today mentioning a battle lasting months,

There are plenty of targets outside Aleppo. With apparently many fighters concentrated on attacking South West Aleppo it might be possible to clean out places in Homs and Idlib. And by letting the Syrian air force attack other targets than the Russian naval aircraft and Kalibrs they avoid coordination problems.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:15 P.M.) - The Russian military reportedly redeployed their S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to the Aleppo Governorate on Tuesday after a pulling them back over the summer.

A military source in Aleppo told Al-Masdar News on Tuesday that at least 7 batteries belonging to the S-300 anti-aircraft missile system were redeployed to the city of Al-Safirah in southern Aleppo.

Al-Safirah is the primary location of the Hezbollah and Iranian forces in southern Aleppo; it is also the site of one of the Syrian Army's largest bases in the province.

No reason was given for this recent move by the Russian military; however, on Tuesday, their navy began launching cruise missiles towards the jihadist defenses in the Aleppo Governorate.

Kremlin says moratorium on bombing Aleppo to be continued for now
The Kremlin said on Wednesday that a moratorium on Russian air strikes against targets in Aleppo remained in place for the time being, a day after the Russian military said it had not bombed the Syrian city for 28 days.

Russia on Tuesday launched coordinated missile strikes against rebels in other parts of Syria, and Moscow for the first time used its only aircraft carrier in combat.

When asked whether the moratorium on strikes against targets in Aleppo was still in place, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters it was.
