ISIS/ISIL conflict in Syria/Iraq (No OpEd, No Politics)

is it just me not hearing whistles of incoming bullets, or Russia Today forgot to mix them in maybe? ... what a coincidental moment, anyway :)

You only hear whistles and pops if the bullets were flying really close to you, in which case those two (and the camera crew) would have been running for cover long before when they did.

This will probably kill the Cease Fire and most likely any attempt at a Peace Process.

If true, ISIS most likely had 'moderate rebesl' trained as US FACs with them calling in American air strikes to help cover their attack on government positions.

Makes sense why they would chase off US special forces.

Previously with the Russians also conduction air strikes the 'moderate rebels' needed US spec ops close as human shields, knowing their presence will keep the Russians from bombing them.

With the cease fire in effect, the limitations those Americans have on what they can do now far outweighs the zero risk of Russian air strikes.

Undoubtably this incident would have been chalked up as a Syrian government 'breach' of the ceasefire in America's books.

Air strike that killed Syriam troops is now confirmed.

The Russians and Syrians would have to be stupid not to exploit this for all its worth.
Russians just need to bomb some "moderate" (I mean IS) somewhere else after all US never really tell who is "moderate" on the ground to the Russians. Everyone make "mistakes".

Russian Foreign Ministry clearly does not believe so and has just publicly accused the US of defending ISIS

Can't fault Russia not buying the accident narrative. Deir Ezzor has been held by Syrian Army since the beginning of civil war. It is the only government controlled stronghold in Eastern Syrian. It's extraordinarily difficult to hit it by mistake.

btw, anyone else caught how CNN cut off Russian ambassador during the news coverage. Had to switch to more neutral feed to hear about Russian statements.

I've read THE bombing occurred at Turdah Mountain (Jabal Tharda); it's in mid-bottom in the map below:

...

actually a moment ago I saw a report saying the Government counter-strike went as far as "Turdah Mountain" in the middle-bottom below:

which would be beyond the initial position in the south!? I mean before ISIL attacked (at least according to my pessimistic post:

anyway the counter-strike should mean the forces from "137 Base" and the Airport are reconnected, which is necessary for the defense to hold up, I guess
(it looks as if at one point I was more afraid than the Syrian Army about the possibility of Deir Ezzor to fall :)

"Cassad" says ("Cassad", not me) it won't take Russians long to bomb pro-American Syrian rebels in retaliation

Coalition Halts Airstrike in Progress Against Possible Syrian Military Position
Coalition officials halted an airstrike in progress today against an Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant fighting position in Syria they had been tracking for “a significant amount of time before the strike” when Russian officials told them it was possible the personnel and vehicles targeted were part of the Syrian military,

officials said.

The location of the strike, south of Dayr Az Zawr, is in an area the coalition has struck in the past, Centcom officials said, and coalition members in the Combined Air Operations Center had earlier informed Russian counterparts of the upcoming strike.

Complex Situation

“It is not uncommon for the Coalition Air Operations Center to confer with Russian officials as a professional courtesy and to deconflict coalition and Russian aircraft, although such contact is not required by the current U.S.- Russia Memorandum of Understanding on safety of flight,” officials said in a statement.

“Syria is a complex situation with various military forces and militias in close proximity, but coalition forces would not intentionally strike a known Syrian military unit,” officials said in the statement. “The coalition will review this strike and the circumstances surrounding it to see if any lessons can be learned.”
