We dont know if j16 regiments are modelled after su30 regiments. Perhaps operating 18 planes each.

IIRC, that was due to the limited number of Su-30s imported, not because of a change in PLANAF doctrine. Ideally, the Su-30 regiments will also have the full 24 aircraft. Since the J-16's numbers are not constrained by Russia and not subjected to FMS costs, it's most likely that J-16 regiments will get their full 24 plane's worth.

Hey...hehehe...this is a J-11 right here in Idaho!

They like the dry climate and higher altitudes!

.........I believe the J-11B that they build themselves, integrating it into their own weapons and sensors, is better than the SU-27 kits they got from the Russians. It is certainly not as good as the SU-35s, but we are talking SU-27 vs J-11B here ............................

Hi Jeff, just wondering why would you compare J-11B with the original SU-27 kits from Russia .... to me very obvious J-11B is way way better ... even J-11A is better than SU-27 kits. And I understand the original SU-27 kits would start retiring soon (if not already happening)

I am not too sure whether SU-35 is much better than the latest J-11B ... definitely better but may not be too big

The J-11B is clearly less capable than Su-35 for all he is a 4th gen vs a 4.5 gen...
Range, less versatile good for A2G missions, radar ( J-11D better have an AESA him normaly...) agility no steering nozzles etc...
The Su-35 is a 3rd Flanker generation with Su-30SM/MKI sub variants also, Su-34, J-11B is a 2nd generation.

J-11B/BS use as radar : Type 1493 or 1474 or KLJ-4 ? PESA ?

Pretty sure J-11B/BS are still using conventional pulse-doppler radars.

Well, I clearly stated myself that the J-11, paticularly the "B" ... "is better than the SU-27".

So we are saying the same thing there.

I do not believe it is better than the SU-35. Now, the J-11D may approach it, but the SU-35 is still, for the Russians, a generation ahead, after the SU-30xxxs.

In any case the J-11B and the J-11D are all fighters that are very capable and that ANYONE going against them would have to ve very wary of, even 5th gen stealth fighters. You cannot afford to let your guard down. If they get into visual range and can use their strnegths then they are going to be very dangerous.

J-11B uses a regular mechanically scanned RADAR similar to the Type-1473G, just larger.
And same or close for J-15 ?

And justly Su-27SK, J-11, J-11A, J-11B use a former generation of radar and the D seems realy more interesting with an AESA seems he have say Huitong.

China is the first cutomer in 1990 about of the Su-27SK a variant more versatile than first Su-27P and S with 10 HP payload 4 t only use AA-10/11 almost only able to A2A combat.

Su-27SK as J-11 all have a payload of 6.5 t, 10 HP, Su-33 also.

All others Su-30, 35 payload 8 t, 12 HP, Su-34 do max 45 t ! have a max payload of 9 t

Flankers are more powerful than J-10 coz can be armed with in general 8 AAM eventualy 10 vs max 6 for J-10 better range CR 1200 km vs 1000, J-10 is a good fighter but more small less potent.
