It is because of the way France treats its Muslim citizens. For a discussion of this matter and a warning to the Indian governments see Ambassador Bhadrakumar's post on his website (

Good Answer, but I suspect there is more and do not forget that if ISIS is indeed involved that intelligent minds lead the actions.
France is a late and in many ways still reluctance member of NATO and would be the first member state to see a backlash against the organisation.
In addition I can special reasons to want to ferment hate and distrust between the French majority and its large Musilim minority. Remember, modern revolution as we know it is a French construct.
If the residents in Muslim areas were to start manning the barricades in their Prefectures, (let alone declae their own Calphates within them) it would be an image of very considerable cultural significance.

the most expressive picture I saw related to the recent events in Turkey (it must be in Istanbul):

We can't live without internet connection. My wife is sitting at the desk besides mine and is working ( Saturday afternoon! ). She is system administrator at an institute of the university and works to make work by others possible.

I was looking for a possible involvement of the Turkish Navy in the most recent events (I don't think I need to describe here the significance of sea routes in the area): I read in Twitter

More than 2,700 Turkish judges removed from duty
Hundreds of judges have reportedly been removed from duty in Turkey following an attempted coup by a faction of the military.

Broadcaster NTV, citing a decision by the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors, said 2,745 judges had been removed in total.

The Anadolu news agency reported that five members of Turkey's high judiciary board Hysk had also been removed.

I do wonder just how over this Coup event actually is.
There does seem to have been a woefully small number involved for such a complex undertaking and that by itself is surprising.

It may of course be that others were supposed to join in and backed out at the last minute, allowing the vanguard to take the fall.

On the other hand of course and staying with the vanguard notion, one important result will have been achieved by yesterdays action. Yesterday many key government and other state officials appear to have been dispersed and location not fully known with certainty.
Today all are back at their desks and in "position"...........

The small number would make sense if it was a rushed action rather than a more thoroughly planned operation, since there was speculation that the coup plot was close to being discovered.

Yeah, and not even 24 hours after that they have long lists of should be hanged or thrown into jail (opposition members).

Compared to those byzantine intrigues what Secretary Xi does in China with his opposition inside the party is a mere child's play.

If this coup was properly planned, the very first thing they would have done was to capture or take out the top civilian leaders.

The fact they didn't do that suggests to me that this wasn't how it was planned.

Either units that was supposed to seize the president and other top civilian leaders bottled out, and/or the coup leaders got wind that the authorities were on to them, so decided to throw a Hail Merry and see what happens, as the outcome for them would have been pretty much the same as either way.
