Realistically, Pakistan currently imports engines like RD-93 and radars like KLJ-7 , not to mention weapons etc ... I doubt they could develop 5th gen technology if they didn't master 4th gen . You need to learn to crawl before you can walk. You need to learn to walk before you could run.

But one can't walk or run at all if you don't make a consistent effort in the first place.

Updates from those who attended the presentation:

- The presentation included a simulation showing the J-31 shooting down multiple Su-30s at long range using "optical sensors".
- The jet offers network centric capabilities and can command multiple UAVs; these UAVs have surveillance, battle assessment, and air/ground attack roles.
- There will be an autopilot system that allows the pilot to concentrate on swarming the UAVs.
- These capabilities will be added in increments.

The SAC also show-cased videos of J-8IIs shooting down F-16s. I think it might be a marketing ploy.

Yes, it seems that way.

But nevertheless the presentation seems to be very Pakistan-specific.

I do not think the presentation of the small model of the FC-31 to the Pakistan Air Force Chief means at all that Pakistan will be getting J-31s.

Than the question arises...Why they gave J31.. why not J11s/J16s etc....
Same when in last visit CAC presented J10B... why not J20s etc...

I see your point. I think that both presentations are highly commercial in nature.

Maybe J-10B is competing against J-31 for Pakistan's order?

No they are not competing to each other. In fact PAF are in need of both of them for different leagues, kindly refer to my previous post 3517. You will have an idea.

Though we are not sure the time frame of J31s induction as it all depends to PAKFA development & induction in IAF.

However, J10Bs are certain in due course of time.
