Yes t2, I loved Top Gun on a great many levels, little hokey, but real flying, also Art Scholl was killed doing the filming of the inverted flat spin, he actually spun into the Pacific Ocean inverted, very strange. Didn't like some of the cussing---but overall loved the music--like this song, and Highway tooooo the Danger Zone. Fact is I often sound track the Danger Zone on the side when I play with the F-18 on FS. and on a more personal level when I used to put the old 172 on the deck and fly through the front yard, only in America, LOL. brat

awesome thread guys, and brings back lots of memories, thanks t2.

How's this one?

I grew up reading this comic which was a legend during my youth.

An unnamed middle east nation fighting a civil war with flying mercenaries fighting at a base designated as Area 88.

Oh yeah, the author Shitani Kaoru was the lead artist for the legendary Leji Matsumoto in charge of drawing all the mechanical aspects within his work.

I guess some younger members may not be familiar with Leji Matsumoto.
He is the author of Space Pirate Captain Herlock, Galaxy Express 999 and, Uchusenkan Yamato AKA Starblazer.

If you haven't seen the recent remake I highly recommend it since it fleshes a lot more in detail then the original.
Here is a digest of all the trailers of this program.
