The reason Hillary Clinton left the Obama Admin and Secretary of State position is simple.

She wanted the time to organize and prepare for her own Presidential run in 2016. That position was taken by her to beef up her resumee for four years as SECSTATE so she could use it for her presidential run, which she is now really gearing up to do.

I believe this to be true as well. While she hasn't made any formal announcement (yet) I'm going to go with her dropping her name in the hat for 2016. She stands a very good chance of winning if she runs unless she has some gargantuan controversial issue we have not heard about or know.

The Republican field is on the weak side to mount any serious challenge especially now with Christie being embroiled in bridgegate which is far from over for him. There is nothing magical about the winning formula for Republicans or even Democrats for that matter. They HAVE to appeal more toward young people, minorities and women otherwise it will again be very very difficult... in other words they have to appeal more toward folks that aren't your typical SD members LOL ;)

Add to this her individual baggage. At the end of her term she was either playing or needed the Sick card, If she was using she needs to get well enough to run or build a image of strength during the run.
Two Although she fluffed her image of a Foreign policy, She has the smoke of Benghazi clung to her.

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — As thick black smoke rose from the barricades encircling the protest camp in central Kiev, a tense calm descended Wednesday over the capital and the European Union threatened sanctions against Ukraine following deadly violence between riot police and protesters in which at least 25 people died and 241 were injured..

The violence on Tuesday was the worst in nearly three months of anti-government protests that have paralyzed Ukraine's capital in a struggle over the identity of a nation divided in loyalties between Russia and the West, and the worst in the country's post-Soviet history. The Kremlin said it put the next disbursement of its bailout on hold amid uncertainty over Ukraine's future and what it described as a "coup attempt"; it criticized the West for the escalation of violence.

The Health Ministry said 25 people died in the clashes, some from gunshot wounds, and Kiev hospitals were struggling to treat hundreds of injured. Activists also set-up a makeshift medical unit inside an landmark Orthodox Church not far from the camp, where volunteer medics were taking care of the wounded.

Not good.

The EU and US on one side, Russia on the other. I hope it settles out and stops soon before there is any escalation by outside forces of any kind.

God's blessings of comfort to all of the families of the dead and injured.

It sounds like there are irreconcilable differences between the pro-West and the pro-Russia factions in Ukraine.

This incident is reminiscent of Egypt and the Muslim Brotherhood. What do you do in a democracy when one faction refuses to respect the results of an election and take to the streets?

When something similar happened in the US (Occupy Wallstreet), the US media went into overdrive to censor demonize the protestors, painting them as lazy slacks who don't even know what they want. This tactic, supplemented by copious amounts of police muscle, worked, and OWS was successfully dispelled.

Can't want, Sochi Olympics is on. Gotta throw eggs while it cracks the loudest.

No kidding. Anybody remember what started this whole thing? Yanukovich canceled a trade agreement with the EU. A fricking trade agreement and the opposition goes ballistic! Who's the threat to democracy here?

New radioactive water leak at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi plant

A large amount of radioactive water has leaked from a holding tank at Japan's troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, its operator said Thursday.

The leak of an estimated 100 metric tons of highly contaminated water was discovered late Wednesday, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) said in a statement.

The tainted water flowed over a barrier around the tank and is being absorbed into the ground, TEPCO said. The plant has shut off the inflow of water into the tank and the leaking has stopped, it added.

The company doesn't believe that there was any leakage of the radioactive water into the nearby Pacific Ocean.

Since the massive earthquake and tsunami that hit northeastern Japan in March 2011 set off meltdowns at three of the reactors at the nuclear plant, TEPCO has been storing the enormous volumes of water contaminated at the site in a steadily growing collection of containers.

The company has struggled to manage the vast amounts of radioactive water, with a number of leaks reported last year.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government vowed to step in to deal with the toxic water crisis at the plant that caused concern in Japan and abroad about the scale of the problem faced by TEPCO.

The leak reported Thursday is one of the largest since TEPCO reported last summer that about 300 tons of radioactive water had leaked from a tank.
