My wife would tell you that I have a somewhat selective memory...

But the question of the 38 GA Z-10 was easily solved. If you look in GE at the three possible bases for Z-10, you will easily see which one it is:

38 GA 8 Army Avn Bde Baoding (Hebei) 38 50 17 N 115 31 02 E 27.10.11 保定
1 GA 5 Army Avn Bde Nanjing-Tushan (Jiangsu) 31 58 23 N 118 50 37 E 08.06.11 南京土山
42 GA 6 Army Avn Bde Sanshui (Guangdong) 23 19 02 N 112 57 54 E 2008 三水

both WZ-19 and WZ-10 do not carry IRCM nor heat suppression kit around the nozzle similiar to AH-64.
few years ago, Chinese military engineer magazine discuss the design and may have fitted in early version of WZ-10,particular wz-10 power by P and W turbine engine.
.it is likely the helos may have been underpower.unless more powerful engine were install to solve this issue.

I seriously doubt WZ-10 do not carry IRCM. And there is a reason why WZ-10 goes through a re design few years back on the nozzle. Probably for heat suppression feature. As for the underpower thing, I heard the new turboshaft is under powered by 5%. The PLAAF must have deems still sufficient power to allow this chopper to enter service.

Hope WZ-10 can perform a few flights to end all this underpower debate.

I highly doubt China had any issues with turbo shaft engines for helicopters the whole P&W issues is probably just propaganda by West, I mean I don't even think Canada provided that many engines in the first place

It's like when AC313 first flew US papers published that Marine one was going to be replaced by a Chinese "counterpart" I mean come on how lame

In addition I highly doubt China would put into operation a second attack helicopter like WZ19 if they had engine problems with WZ10, and WZ19 is no joke it's a serious attempt and has taken resources to design and build, it's just like young brother of WZ10 and not just a copy of Z9 which it does not resemble from any angle, it's been designed ground up on its own

So WZ19 and WZ10 are both using Chinese engines which are robust otherwise we wouldn't see like over 50 of them in operation

Infact I think the medium lift helicopter programme is also in full swing with modern naval variants of Z8 coming on line so it means they have larger more powerful turbo shafts under manufacture is well

WZ19, WZ10, Z9, Z15 and Z8 many choices there does not sound like a country that has engine issues

Answering my own enquiries...

Does it looks like underpowered??? ;) I will say if they dare to put it in airshow for the public to see. I will say its no problem with the chopper. This also demonstrated their confidence of the product.

Just one question ... I think it's now safe to say the Z-10 is operational with three PLA Army Aviation Brigades ... but is it correct that only the ones from the 8. Brigade (with red numbers) are equipped with the latest Apache-style optics/targeting systems ?

What other current gunships (today) have IR suppressor beside the AH-64?

Looking at the Agusta A129 Mangusta, it looks like newer (?) version have IR suppressor whereas older version doesn't; sorry I don't know what IR suppressor looks like, and is assuming that in reference to the AH-64's exhaust. My question is, how hard would it be to install IR suppressor to existing design like the Z-10.

That depends on how heavy such an add-on is, and how much horsepower Z-10 has to spare...but first, we need to know how much horsepower the Z-10 has. If for anything, when the airshow opens its doors tomorrow, we'll get pics of its specs.
