I just noticed that the tails are both canted inwards (or outwards?) -- and it is during landing as well. Is this evidence that the aircraft can use its all moving tails as airbrakes as some people have speculated?

I think it's more or less a myth to say that the old Chinese stuff was better in quality. I recall that the quality of civilian products after the Cultural Revolution up to the early 80's were really bad. Take those old-days bicybles for example, they were heavy, clumsy, and poor in quality (I remember the bubbling and peeling plating from the wheels of some Yongjiu brand bicycles in the neighborhood...

Never heard yongji brand but flying pigeon is real good. If you don't believe , you go Beijing and go to some old estates, you can see those old flying pigeon lying around which can be trace back to 20 or 30 years old. There' s a reason why this brand is so popular even westerner knows it. Nowadays quality I'm not sure.

Maybe, but doing that will mean you have limited yaw control, which is not ideal during landing. It is interesting but we have never seen the J20 deploy it's actual air breaks during landings. You would think that they would just deploy that if they needed to slow her down instead of messing about with the tails.

The F-22 uses a similar approach since it does not feature an air-brake. I don't think this is too big of a deal.

Pilot did not notice the photographer, who took this picture, hiding in the grass.

Another engineer quickly climbs onboard. There are few opportunities to sit in the pilot's seat of a $100 million+ stealth fighter jet.

Ah alright -- I appreciate the pictures, but maybe consider leaving out some of the captions? It makes the pictures a bit more interesting but they are a bit misleading at times and most of us can tell that the aircraft is being towed in front of some hangars or that an engineer is on the ladder.

I know this has been brought up before BUT does PLAAF only have 2001 example? usually with the USAF or even most AF you have more than 1 example doing during trials etc! I find it odd that they only have a single plane doing all of the testing
