Not everyone is convinced it's nuclear carrier. @Engineer Any comments on CCTV military Weibo post or PLAN euphemism video? My money is still on 004 being a conventional carrier, mainly because there is no urgent need for a nuclear carrier, and secondly because the Wuhan mockup shows an island with a funnel. The so called nuclear compartments in 004 could be devoid of reactors in the end. Their existence does not preclude conventional propulsion. A carrier design with nuclear power in mind but ended up with conventional propulsion is not new (USS America), and in China's case that would just mean unification of hull design for all future carriers. We simply can't tell how 004 would be powered until they put on the island.
As to your meta-commentary about the thread's attitude, that attitude isn't limited to this thread, but can be also observed in the Chinese navy-watching community. All rationality goes out of the window and everything gets degenerated into stats in a RPG game. I am going to go one step further than you and label the attitude as toxic.
if the starboard elevator was further back does that mean the island is still in between the two elevators like with the Fujian rather than behind both as with Ford's layout?
I am late to the game and know this is just a light converstaion, but there is a seriousness in it. Money is probably the last thing being considered in naming PLAN ships. There are lots of human sacrifice in the funding of the republic and wars to defend her to this day, those regions which have more heros died for PRC deserve being front in the queue.Honestly, I support this. I’m also for HK participating in Pairing-Up poverty alleviation programmes targeting poverty regions close to HK like Jiangxi, Western Hunnan, etc., albeit most HKers are still against it. HK could play a role in some poverty alleviation and welfare programs in regions where the city’s land trade route encompasses. Seriously, we can afford it, and it is also in our interest to build stronger ties with less developed regions of the Mainland.
Annnnnd, in return, we shall demand CNS-21 or 22 be named after our great city with its bow decorated with a massive GOLDEN Bauhinia blakeana to commemorate the 35th anniversary of returning to Chyna (2032).
Wdym of "Not sure where you got your reference from"? Didn't you see my picture?
In fact, I have another picture to prove that that location is the E2 opening.Wdym of "Not sure where you got your reference from"? Didn't you see my picture?
This is the original image of my last post. Don't bring up a blurrier one.
Look like there is some work on stern too, and the stern will be extended.
