You seems not to get what he means: Pakistan is the buyer, but real fund can come from Gulf. The said fund of 12 billions USD is said to buy whole package of J35AE+ KJ500 + HQ19.

I'm curious if by "much upgraded JF-17s" he means retrofitting some of the current Block 1 and 2 fleet or more Block 3.
The Dy. CAS’s reference to “more advanced JF-17 variants” during the press briefing is certainly intriguing, though somewhat confusing at this stage. We will likely have to wait for further details or clarification to better understand exactly which variant/configuration he was referring to.
That said, the PAF has already indicated on multiple occasions that it does not intend to invest further in the Block-I/II fleet. Effectively, after the MLU of the Block-I aircraft, the fleet now largely stands at Block-II/III standard. This is why the mention of “more advanced JF-17s” has sparked further speculation regarding what exactly may be under consideration.

A LIFT fighter would be too similar to JF-17. maybe they can make a JF-17 trainer that leads into J-10C, and if they can make a twin engine next generation “JF-27”, it can lead into and support J-35AE.Just realized the date. About one year now from that day
At this point I feel like a modern LIFT would be in order, and I haven't heard any procurement news. The current solution for training seems less than optimal once fleet size grows and integrates next-gen. Can someone more knowledgeable inform me as to what's going on?
According to the link in sieges’ post, there may be 200 exports of JF-17, which is a Chinese fighter also, I don’t know if we will get to 200 J-10CE’s to be honest.
TAF’s is also a recent order, split evenly between new aircraft (to be delivered in 2030) and "lightly used/near-new" ones; and the delivery of those "lightly used" 2nd-hand aircraft would mean Qatar would cease to be an operator unless it places a new order. That 2nd-hand delivery schedule also depends on the fate of the Gulf and whether peace is achieved anytime soon.
