Can someone explain what is actually happening with peace talks? If stock market is any indication, things are going well despite what they say.
Increase in Arabic Soft Power.
Oman has announced no toll on passage. Oman has further gained Soft Power. Iran practically lost all its Arab allies.
Pakistan increase dependence on Saudi.
further decline of Iran and India.
When Iran and Pakistan are involved it will have same result as that Iranian gas pipeline reach border but not complete. now that Arabic Soft Power has advanced much further. they are more than willing to leave the Iranian system alone as long it can do commerce.

The entire way that the US, and the West in general, deal with the critical material challenge is wrong. Look at the very concept of setting a price floor for rare earths. It doesn't accomplish anything because nobody sensible would go into rare earths to make money to begin with. The entire world wide industry in rare earth exports is just a few billion USD. And because the technology to extract and process is going to take possible a few billion USD a year to develop and there won't be any real returns for the first 10 years, what kind of capitalist is going to tackle this regardless of what kind of price guarantees get promised?

The only real solution is to implement proper industrial policy to ensure the security of critical materials. But I don't think that there is any Western country that's still capable of industrial policy any more so this performative nonsense is the best they can do.
It is much more than few billions. Russia planning to have Lithium extraction capacity for 5.6m EVs per year by 2030 (they can go much beyond that) . already started pilot production and This is what Putin expect from geologist profession. Russia intend to make EVs with longer life span, less maintainance (including in accidents) and battery price cheaper than 35% of vehicle. in addition Soft Power imposed on society to achieve such goals. there is no way Japan or any western country can compete with such an approach. Russia TVEL is incharge of this projects and that TVEL provide uraninum fuel to like 45% of world reactors.

Putin: 276 solid mineral deposits have been discovered in Russia in the past year.
"These high moral principles and strong professional traditions are passed down from generation to generation and serve to effectively address the challenges facing industry workers," Putin noted.

I disagree -- Iran is the only party that matters as it can open and close the strait as it sees fit. This action is illegal according to the international law. Oman does not want to take the heat for money it does not really need. Means nothing for the Arab soft power -- as they cannot really dictate the action unlike the Iran. What power is that if one cannot veto the action it does not like?

This is where China should further restrict all critical minerals to everyone. US will try to get these critical minerals indirectly since direct sales to military is banned. Do not process foreign rare earths and then export it. All rare earths and other critical minerals should be fully under state control as they are vital for national security. Can’t trust private companies.
China is actually restricting the export of commonly used chemicals also, such as sulfuric acid.

Today's contradicting news story:

The closing of the Strait of Hormuz is not enough?

In which world does China need to curry the Trump regime's favor for a meeting in May? ...Oh, never mind. You guessed it: it's by Lingling Wei.
