Finally replacing Type 366, are they? New one looks similar to 054B's, presumably S-band AESA.
My advance apology in being pedantic, what's replaced is Type 364 (not to be confused with 346). Type 366 is the white dome over the bridge. I presume that "3" represents Naval Radar, "6" is "Surface Search". If it's "4" in the middle it's "Air Defense". Last number is product sequence.
This equates to the second radar on the 054B that's hidden by the ESM cone on the second mast. The radar on the primary mast of 054B is an S-band AESA but the 368 is an X band AESA that's much smaller. 368 first appeared on the Type 75 helo carrier.
I presume the top radar on the 054B to be a Type 38X class, with "8" for "Air Search". This is the S-band AESA. The second radar, the S-band AESA Type 368 is for spotting low flying threats, like anti ship missiles skimming just above the water. It will direct the HHQ-10 and CIWS which is the same function it has on the 052C/D and the Type 364's.
The Type 366 radar over the bridge of the 052C/D is based on the Russian Mineral-ME and is used to spot for ship targets for antiship missiles. It has over the horizon capability and passive detection. It also has a datalink that connects to aerial assets to spot for ships. But it also has the capability to detect a fast low flying threat just over the water, adding another layer of detection.
