Decades after the US began its campaign to "democratize" the Middle-East, we see the Taliban return to power in Afghanistan, and the rest of the US's "nation-building" projects descending into irrelevance. The shift to a more "use Arabs to fight Arabs" strategy, under Trump and Biden, was, in this sense, out of necessity - the US recognized that it couldn't just pull off a simple military victory.

South America is clearly not the Middle East, and expecting South Americans to fight like Arabs or even Iranians is just not practical. China's ability to guarantee security in the region is effectively zero. You can't seriously defend people who won't seriously defend themselves.

I don't know, maybe I'm blind, but many states in both Americas have sometimes resisted US domination and exploitation. There have been many coups, but few have lasted longer. Let's remember Panama, Chile, Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba! Mexico several times, probably everyone in history. I don't think they lacked the courage to resist, it's just that the US was too powerful and too close and the friends were too far away or didn't have enough strength. And let's remember the Cuban Missile Crisis, I was already taught in school to hide from nuclear explosions and poison gas. Of course, Khrushchev won then by bluffing... But that's another question.

I'm afraid that third and secondary generation Hua Qiao are following the footstep of Chinese mestizo, being coopt means easy money, just look at the recent flood control controversy, a lot of the perpetuators are Filipino Chinese.

An example is Eric Yap, whom I know having done business with him years ago.

Long before Maduro and Mrs. was rousted and captured in their bedroom-the CIA and its agents inside the Venz. gov't had subverted all the key military defences ,turned off/sabotaged said Chinese radars ,etc.A lost cause and a demonstration of naked western gunboat piracy.
