Unlike the old days of type 051/053, Foods on the ships have improved a lot.

I do wonder what QoL is like on ships like the 052D, 054As etc, older ships are usually mentioned for being cramped for the crew. Though, newer ships like the 054B, 055 etc seems to solve the issue and provide much more space for provisions for long range deployments.

They don't do ration on PLA aircraft carriers. There has been many video and articles on mess (aka canteens) in Liaoning and Shandong in the past. They have several messes, including one for Muslims, on board to serve the crew of more than a thousand personnels.

They have food cooked in the style of Noth, South, Sichuan spicy etc, and also western style pastry etc. Sailors can choose what they want to eat buffet style.

Unlike the old days of type 051/053, Foods on the ships have improved a lot.

Still don’t understand why so much dessert and carbs would be necessary for a naval vessel. But I did see lamb chops in the video.

Having a good dessert/sweets section as part of a canteen is actually pretty standard, for foreign/global navies and also past footage of PLAN ships and carrier canteens as well.

And it's the commissioning ceremony after all, it may not necessarily represent a typical meal cycle.
So there's no need to think too deeply about it.
