It seems Trump's strong arm tactics are effective for now in winning these short term victories. But as with how his Iran strikes and subsequent ceasefire might've only accelerated Iran's nuclear program, his tariff deals can be paraded as victories to his base, but will only further entrench the current global movement to reorient away from the American market. Especially in the case of Vietnam, which is still a fledgling economy and 20% tariffs when exports are still well over 80% of their GDP is going to sting, since most of those exports go to America.
