We have to wait for further information to come out but the information we have now shows it is a large ship wether it’s a carrier or not remains to be seen
Listening again to the Guancha guys talking about Fujian from a year ago, where they mentioned the 15k tons carrier idea, they also talked about the following:
1. Fujian wasn’t designed with J-XDS/naval 6th gen in mind
2. The next carrier or the next next carrier after Fujian, whether nuclear or conventional, would be designed with J-XDS/naval 6th gen in mind
3. They think Kitty Hawk or Fujian sized carriers are not big enough. The problem is not just deck space, but also hangar space
4. They strongly urge everyone to jump out of "US carrier thinking", and instead think of future CN carriers as taking a CN route
For #2, assuming the rumours are true and the two carriers are being constructed simultaneously, it is highly probable that this conventional carrier is designed with J-XDS/naval 6th gen in mind. How the PLAN envisions this carrier in relation to 6th gens should be a bigger consideration.

personally i believe China will have a sister ship to accompany Fujian [eg Liaoning, Shangdong]. then comes the CVNs. there's a Chinese adadge ..."lucky things come in TWO"...eg a marriage, man + woman

What is the survivability of aircraft carriers now? There is always a saying in the forum that aircraft carriers will be sunk instantly by advanced hypersonic missiles. In the process of fighting between the United States and the Houthi armed forces, we saw that Houthi missiles and drone attacks successfully disrupted the actions of US aircraft carriers and caused at least three manned fighter jets to fall into the sea. In the war between Iran and Israel, we saw that a large number of Iranian missiles could be effectively intercepted by modern air defense systems, although a small proportion of missiles still hit the target.
If we compare aircraft carriers with overseas military bases, I still think that the survivability of aircraft carrier battle groups is far higher than that of US overseas military bases, because military bases cannot move or hide themselves.

Interesting thoughts and i would mostly agree with you. Personally i think there was a era of aircraft carriers and to be able to get air controll is and was avery important cababillity.
But first i think, air controll is not everything, what actuall conflicts show very good. Iran for example got really Zero controll of its airspace and was still possible to hurt Israel. Second, u say it allready, hypersonic weapons change the way aircraft carriers can work for quite alot. How far, we wont know for sure until a hypersonic power get in conflict vs a aircraft power. Also i guess the superpowers themself dont know for sure, how good their defenses will work in the end...
In the end i guess hypersonic weapons have their time now, and i guess they are a real problem for aircraft carriers but that this will be only a short period. All superpowers are working on energy weapons and so far they are capable of destroying hypersonic weapons, aircraft carriers will be the top hard- and softpower again...
IMO it's not a good idea for any weapons platform to be so big and expensive as to no longer be expendable. It's OT but I wonder if there are plans for mini-carriers, just one cat and one runway, carrying maybe 5-6 aircrafts. Then a CAG would be something like a mega carrier with long range bombers 500+kms behind with dozens of mini-carriers with multirole fighters spearheading and guarding the flanks.
Energy weapons cannot shoot down hypersonic missiles. You're playing too many video games or reading too much fiction.
