The reporting is that China has pretty much given up on the US...
They don't seriously expect Trump to hold any deal.
No date set just means China has given Trump conditions and list of concessions that he has yet to comply with.
But he will, TACO as they say.
Ultimately this is a learning process for America, to learn their place in the world and how to property interact with their superiors.
You really should have gathered information before getting yourself into a position where automakers are saying US auto industry might shut down within weeks.
So we have the huge budget for the CIA, the various thinktanks, many overseas quasi governmental organizations. How much more information do you think we will gather sitting across a negotiation table with the high ranking Chinese officials? You will not learn anything that the Chinese don't want you to know. I suppose you can spin anything as 4D chess playing by Trump, but the truth is, Trump is a narcissist and his only gift is negotiating by applying high pressure on his opponents. There are a million ways he can make the U.S. better, but none that would allow him to brag about how he wins with his only skillset. The result was, he destroyed a lot of small and medium U.S. businesses that needed those imports to survive. I am not just talking about those selling dolls made in China. I am talking about U.S. assembly plants that needed Chinese made components, Construction that needed Chinese tools and parts, manufacturing that needed Chinese ingredients and parts. This is saying nothing of all the agricultural and mining products that did not get sold due to this trade-war, all to satisfy his fragile ego. I am not against trade wars per say, but you would think that we paid all this money for think tanks etc, the least the president can do is to game out his moves and see at least three step ahead, but that would be asking too much of our president that don't even do any reading.
