Orca casts doubt on the idea that you can guide an AAM all the way with AWAC. It is possible with SAM fired by ships, however.
One "only" needs to get the BVRAAM close enough to see the target with it's own radar, so 20-30km or whatever it is these days. So it would likely "only" need some course correction updates to get it in the general area of the target.

Now that both sides are doing victory laps, I can't be the only person thinking that this could only be temporary?

I appreciate this sounds cynical but the with the manner in which India launched itself into this, there is a very real possibility that there is a regrouping occurring....

It would be stupid but the jingoism/bakht combo is quite the combination driver for bad decisions on their part.

Again, this really depends on the target aircraft. Can PL-15 lock on to F-35 from 20km out? I have my doubts on that. It's fair to say that Orca was simply pointing out something quite obvious. The larger the missile, the larger and more capable its seeker, the better chance it has to be guided by lower resolution radar.

right, not weapon grade tracking. It does however allow your fighter to keep radar off until missile gets closer to the target aircraft. And you can narrow beam on the target. All of which reduces emissions detected by other enemy aircraft.

Although, one thought I had is that with AESA seeker on PL-15, it might be able to lock on to target aircraft (at least one that's not VLO) with even AWACS resolution. Depends on scenario I think.

Either way I think there is some confirmation that Chinese AESA have potent LPI capabilities.

Indian defence minister is war mongering against Pakistan again. In a few years time the two countries will likely clash again, the Indian public is simply too radicalised in their echo-chamber and dreams of imitating Israeli genocidal tactics and mass rape.

That was always gonna happen. That's why Pakistan was fortunate to get granted a ceasefire early to buy time to improve. If it doesn't learn then that's it fault. But we should expect they have more self awareness than India.

Hi,
so what’s the best and probably asap solution for IAF against the PAF jets,
while remaining in their own territory is Russian R37-M and for this they can
send their 18/24 MKI urgently to Russia to arm them with Su35 type radar and
then plug in R37M will it work I don’t know but this is the best solution to have
it may be within 6 months or so until unless uncle SAM is happy to deliver F35
but obviously that will take more time
another solution is France probably upgrading Rafale to F4/5 standards they might
work able but you indian have to give arm and leg for this upgrades
thank you

I'm sure they have as this conflict has shown a lot of weaknesses in our air defense and I'm sure they are now addressing it. There was a flight of PAF to China immediately after ceasefire, so I'm sure we're probably doing some urgent purchase of some things because we're dealing with a genocidal enemy:

Su-35 radar would be a rather poor idea.
