1 step closer to a Huawei PC Console.
Hope it will have Open Harmony Desktop version on x86 architecture.
There are some open harmony running on non-huawei arm. Not sure how much the software stack will be compatible w harmony next os desktop though
How likely is it to become widespread?
Even as a Huawei fan, I don't think it will become too popular especially if Huawei will be the only manufacturer, plus chip issues, plus application compatibility issues
If traditional laptops with x86 can dual boot and it can emulate x86 windows apps it then I think it has more chance of success

Nice i hope open harmony will do well, hope the base of the app runtime/api are shared but things specific to Huawei services is not.
A bit like open harmony is linux/bsd and HarmonyOS is like android/macos etc.
Good video showing current capabilities of the HarmonyOS PC. It definitely seems much better developed than previous Chinese OS like UOS or Kylin
You can only download apps from official store at the moment. There are things like WPS, and chinese alternatives of video editing and photoshop, which seem to work well. Browser is chrome 114 and webkit 537
Aesthetics wise, it looks incredible. It's really like a best of both worlds from Mac and Windows. Looks easy to pick up and nice file system. Much nicer animations and sophistication than Windows (in fact looks even better than Mac to me).
Overall I think definitely a viable choice for mainly word/excel type business users who have lots of money and want to support Huawei
