Ive got a JVC CRT TV in my Bedroom. TV Programs arent worth justifying the cost of a new TV though I do have a LCd in the lounge, though nobody ever watches it ......too busy doing other things, though I do have a PC TV, which i scale down to about 6" on my monitor.

Besidesif I was to buy the new Volvo V70 at $89000 (over here) and my associates take great delight in calling it a Ford, Grrrrrrrrrrrr I would want it to last more than 5yrs

I was telling that to myself too... having a Honda Stream at 100+k here when it first came into the market, and was telling myself, this car gonna last be 10years... but... what do you know... once a cute looking Jazz came up, four years down the road, the Stream is in the second hand car dealer's shop:D

I am telling you, this is the mentality of many or should I say, most people. If they can afford it, they will throw away all old things and get newer, more fashionable and much more 'happening' gadgets or vehicles once they are available.

That is not just vehicle or electronics... it is worst off in the fashion market - handbags, clothings, shoes... heck, even spectacles, watches, mobilephones... you name it.

Recently, I am also spying a trend in the handy man section... people are coming up with cool multipurpose tools... and I saw youngsters throwing out perfectly good conditioned hammers (man, I have a thing with hammers:D), screwdrivers sets, etc, to buy newer and more modern or futuristic looking gadgets.

A Honda Stram at $100K+ geez car sales tax must be high in Singapore?

Maybe the Mods will cut you some slack, after all theres only so much you can talk about a shovel

When Honda stream first came into Singapore, it cause more than 100k, but the second generation which was built in Indonesia is somewhat cheaper and more affordable. Also our COE that was much lower in the second generation of Stream. However... nowadays, tax had increased to more than 10k per car.

And there I was, thinking thread is about entrenching tool and broader trend of Chinese PLA paying more attention to basic gear... :nono:

Further discussion on product manufacturing and modern trend of 'enforced obsolescence' should continue in other thread, no?
