You laugh but tons of people actually do have a Made in the US of A, designed by Haier in Qingdao washing machine.

Yes, the GE appliances line purchased by Haier, but I don't think many of them go back to China.

Haier was actually one of the first Chinese companies to open a factory in the US, in South Carolina in 2000. I remember reading about it back then.

There is also the famous Midea U-shaped Window AC Unit, designed by Americans (for basically NYC), made in China. Further subsidized by NYC to develop a U-shaped heat pump, so NYC x CCP green tech.

Trump says he has ‘no intention’ of firing Fed Chair Powell​

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he has “no intention” of firing Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell before his term leading the U.S. central bank expires next year.

“None whatsoever,” Trump said in the Oval Office when asked to clarify that he did not seek Powell’s removal. “Never did.”

The comment represents a dramatic shift for Trump, who has recently ramped up his rhetoric against Powell and declined to rule out the possibility of taking the unprecedented step of firing him.

Blinking to China is one thing but blinking to Mr. Transitory Inflation is a new low. Who is he gonna blink to next? Nancy Pelosi? Gavin Newsome? AOC?

Chinese port fees is to prevent orders from going to Korean and Japanese shipyards. You have to understand the purpose of the America port fees is NOT to shift ship building to the US. The true purpose is to reduce orders to Chinese shipyards by forcing them to non-Chinese ones.

It would be strange to punish SK and Japan for US action. I'd wait and see, if they bend the knee to Trump then China retaliate away, otherwise we can talk

No, it is not punishment per se. It is to prevent Chinese shipyards from losing orders.

In the last week China started wielding stick globally for the first time (punishment for countries who deal with US), and activated secondary sanction mechanism for the first time, these are not tools of negotiation, these are tools of punishment.

China isn't playing defence, China is playing to solve the American problem.
