Trump also has a team of people and bureaucracy..
Trump surrounds himself with grifters, crackpots, Yes Men and anyone who kiss his rear end. So yeah what could possibly go wrong with His decision making and judgment. Trump is basically using the gun boat diplomacy in the 21st Century. He is using the mafia tactic to coerce Nations into complying to His every whim.

This version of Trump is a lot more scarier than the first, because He removed all the people who corrected Him during his first tenure as the President. Right now you are seeing Trump and His decision making process in full unadulterated, unedited, uncensored and raw mode. Be afraid be very afraid!

To quote Rex Tillerson, "Trump is a Moron!".

Then again, Congress can put a stop to Trump's madness but they won't the hate for China is bipartisan.

Trump chose Navarro as one of his advisors.
There's not much else to say on that.

And I severely doubt that the US bureaucracy had modelled a scenario where the US declares economic war on the world

Someone once asked Napoleon how he decided where to assign soldiers. Napoleon’s reply was that it’s simple: soldiers are either smart or dumb, lazy or energetic.

  • The smart and energetic I make field commanders. They know what to do and can rally the troops to do it.
  • The smart and lazy I make generals. They also know what to do, but they’re not going to waste energy doing what doesn’t need to be done.
  • The dumb and lazy I make foot soldiers.
But what about the dumb and energetic? “Those,” Napoleon replied, “I shoot.”

A disappointing lack of panic and terror in the markets today, but I suppose American markets with American traders need more time than usual for the message to make it through - you know, IQ deficiencies and all. As has been the case, I stand ready with the theme.

They are saving energy to be able to panic enough when late soviet style massive queues start forming and rationing kicks in for basic everyday necessities due to the tariffs created shortages.

Apparently China not hiking tariffs after 125 percent is considered good news now. Grasping at straws there…
