I never asserted that Pakistan would or could change the engine on its own. You are just itching to start a war of words.

You claim it PAF want the engine to be changed. It shall be done. Since Pakistan has no experience in doing it. If CAC refuse to do it, who's going to do it?

USA? Russia? Or UK or France??? The choice is very obvious, with political involved in, only if China gives the greenlight. If not, there is nothing Pakistan can do it regarding the engine issue.

Hi,

It is logically flawed if the fighter plane was designed around an engine as it used to be. The Jf is a modular design from the begining---it was kept in mind for this plane may have to switch engines right from gitgo---and not with too many modifications to the structure.

The british did it to the phantoms---the israelis did it to the mirage---the so africans did it to I believe the cheetah or the mirage---and those modifictaions are not beyond kamra trust me on that---.

A fighter plane is designed around an engine from the begining. That is why WS-13 which suppose to replace RD-93 need to be design from start of almost similiar dimension.

As for the example you given. You need to find a almost similiar dimension engine in order to do the swap. As some member mention, Pakistan has no experience doing the engine swap. If it needs any modification, It has to go thru China and gets its approval. FC-1 is co-own by CAC and Pakistan. If CAC refuses, there is no way Pakistan can get a third party and go on its own.

Posters love probably emotions or what if etc... Who cares. If PAF wants it then it will find cash to get it done. I doubt CAC will not use that to make alternative for export (for which they earn a lot of money). Will PAF invest heavily? Impossible. they got credit to buy first batch of JF17. they are looking for FC20 as high end to counter MRCA. If they invest in JF17 then it will be in electronics/avionics/weapons. If Chinese engine comes up then it will be only accepted if it is as good as and cheaper/better. Posters should more think about economical principles then posting garbage.

If Pakistan can make every military product a good one then we can give them credits. They produced nukes when needed. They produced Ra'ad/Babur when needed. They mold al Khaled into better and better product. Trust me. They can do a lot more then we think. The problem is always cash and manpower if you compare it with China but do not start thinking they are not capable.

So far there is no news or evidence, Pakistan has the ability to refit engines and carried out a series of extensive test to ahieve operational status.

Any export of CAC must get approval from the top brass of China.

There is rumour Iran purchase of J-8F was rejected by China. ZTZ99 tank has so far not approved for any export and is not on export list.

Will Western country allows EJ200/M88 engine to be ship to China and carried out testing on FC-1? Or we turn it around. Let me ask you again. You all admit Pakistan has no experience changing jet engines and Pakistan has no facilities doing that.

If CAC refuse to do it. How is Pakistan going to do about it?

May be you are from the future or something, but right here in the presence, engines still affect an aircraft's C.G. and aerodynamics properties significantly that fighter planes are still designed around their engines.

Modular for avionics. JF-17 being able to receive any engine only occurs in your fantasy.

mr Engineer... They added AL31 into Mig27... They added RD33 in a Mirage F1... I bet those ideas were impossible in your vision. If they say it is possible then they are atleast open to the idea. Just shouting Nonono... Mother says no will not make it impossible.
