Could be radar transparent materials with radar adsorbing filling underneath
Speaking of which, I've heard that the J-20's canards are made of carbon fiber-reinforced bismaleimide resin matrix. Since it's non-conductive, it should be close to invisible against radar waves.

Any idea on how true it is?

Some juicy information shared:

We have official confirmation that the 17:0 mock combat results from 2020 was perpetrated by a new J-20 pilot with only 100 hours on the type. The pilot emphasized the importance of collaboration in air combat.
J-20 has practiced multiple aerial refueling during a single sortie. What were they practicing? Attack on Guam?
Mock combat that got stopped within 50 minutes because both sides suffered heavy casualties. Wonder if both sides used J-20.

I don't think that section describes the number of kills, the year of the exercise or the number of hours that the pilot had in the aircraft.

Unless you are reading that part and making an educated guess that it refers to the past rumour about the 2020 exercise.

Cross theater redeployment, and increased mission endurance (while not necessarily increasing combat radius) may both necessitate multiple refuellings in a single sortie.

The pilot named Chen Xinhao is the same one mentioned in the report from 2020. At the time the official report didn’t specify the type of aircraft used, but it was widely speculated to be J-20. This is official confirmation.
Facing interceptions from multiple directions, Chen Xinhao, a young pilot attached to the Wang Hai Air Group under the PLA Eastern Theater Command, coordinated with his teammate and took down 17 opposing fighter jets with no damage taken, despite being heavily outnumbered, the PLA Daily reported on Monday.

Chen had only recently switched to flying this new type of warplane and had just flown with it for 100 hours, the PLA Daily said.

The PLA Daily report did not specify what fighter jet Chen flew.

Yeah, that's a reasonable deduction in that case, linking the two articles together.
