FC-1 costs $15m-$20m. I hear F-7s costs about $5m maybe $7m.

So we finally see some reports about China buying it. It was one of the sharp edges on thios forum. I think it is matter of able to replace all parts with Chinese parts like it happened with the K8. Probably the 06 plane is for full domestic settings, hence the different communication antenna's.
Whether the souped up plane wil only be for China? I doubt it. K8 export version is more reliable then the Chinese version, even with the fact that the latter has composite rudder... I think that F7PG is a bit more advanced then the G. The F6 could do more then the J6. And if PAF asks J10B to be purchased in 2014/15 I bet is more modern then what PLAAF gets now. It has more to do with the purchase power then not willing to export. And in the case of Pakistan China is willing to give loans... Cause it can use it as launch customer or input for new designs. China just said that Chinese BVR was ok to be exported. I did not read that it was a downgraded version. And there are other ways to sell sets. I think we wiLl see only then when China wants us to see. That is the power of China. But I am pretty sure the J10B and FC1 will be not a dwongraded version to Pakistan.

Where please? i am still missing that reference source/link to saying China is considering buying the FC-1.
I did however come to tha same conclussion in the #06 prototype. I think that is either for the PLAAF or for other FC-1 (as opposed to JF-17) customers considering the Chinese subsytems said to be onboard.

K8 is just some trainer. Is not the top of the cream weapon for PLAAF. Why China don't want to export the best? As for the F-7PG, by the time it was exported. China already on its way for Su-27SK(J-11A) and J-8II. Both has BVR capability which China badly needed.
All the example of weapon given by you is second fiddle and not the highest priority. PL-12 is a very important BVR for PLAAF. I doubt they will give out their secret of the best version. SD-10 I bet will be downgrad in certain area.
There was report of Iran interested in J-8F was was rejected becos China was not prepare to sell this version.

Well, it is Lion's word against mine. I think I have it correct and unfortunately I can tell nothing more then that. We have seen more "facts" that tend to be just lies. Like not delivering rd33. Paper plane. And to me downgraded is just amusing. Certainly from posters with no history.

I would guess JF-17 costs significantly less than J-10, which would allow a poor country to buy much larger numbers. And number of aircraft is incredibly important.
We don't have a lot of cost/price information for either J-10 or JF-17, so I think that's premature.

The J-10 is a relatively high performance fighter, has a different flight envelope than JF-17 and much larger payload. If the JF-17 costs $15-20m, then I would expect the J-10 to be over $30m. Even with upgrades and modifications, the JF-17 is in a different class from J-10. Its like saying F-16E version has performance similar to F-15. That's not true. Even F-15A still flies higher, faster, and carries more bombs than F-16E. Does that mean F-16E is not worth developing? No.

Very nice picture of the 6. prototype FC-1 … really beautiful bird.
Interesting is also that – I only noticed it now – that with the redesigned prototypes, the vertical fin below the rear-fuselage has been changed too (the early prototypes had an F-16-sylish one) in a similar way as done from the J-10A to J-10B !
