Montreal should not complain. Montreal should learn to Jugaad. "In 3 years time, India will produce world-class quality trains, I promise". Trust me bro.

BTW, that article was from 2021. That Montreal REM project is not short of controversies.

A 自欺欺人 article. Sorry to readers here who can't read Chinese. But I can't find a more apt description in English.
Forget about that article. It's written by someone who is still at the denial stage. It will take awhile for him to accept the unavoidable fact that China will become the largest economy in the world even in nominal terms. Read the following article by David P. Goldman instead. As a former investment banker, he knows what he talks about.
Demographic doomsayers are simply wrong. A declining workforce doesn't necessarily mean a declining economy. South Korea quintupled industrial production between 1990 and 2010 while its factory workforce fell by a fifth. It moved up the value-added chain to make high-end electronics, cars and computer chips. Higher education transformed South Korea from a cheap-labor venue to a high-tech contender.

China is on the same path. In 1994, just before the "Asian tigers" took off, Nobel Laureate Paul Krugman derided "the myth of Asia's miracle," claiming that the "tigers" had exhausted their reserves of cheap labor. He missed the jump in productivity to come, just as "peak China" pundits do today.

Nikki Haley is definitely everyone worst nightmare. Xi would just treats Nikki as how he treated Trudeau as amateur that pretended to be tough.

is expanding her plan to combat the threat from communist China -- including a pledge to roll back Biden-era green energy mandates, which she says are a giveaway to Beijing.

Haley has called for years for the U.S. to be more aggressive in combating the threat from Beijing and in June called for a fundamental change in the U.S. outlook to the threat from the East.

On Monday, her campaign is announcing the expansion of that strategy both in terms of

and changing policies she believes are aiding the geopolitical foe.

At the top of the list is a call to end green energy mandates implemented by the Biden administration to transition off from fossil fuels and

, which Haley and other critics argue are dominated by China and Chinese companies.

If elected president, Haley would end the mandates, as well as related subsidies. She also calls for a ban on states and cities from using federal taxpayer money to purchase Chinese tech -- including drones used by police and emergency services, which are often made in China. She would also

, while replacing Chinese tech with that made in the U.S.

A Haley administration would also combat Chinese involvement in the U.S. fentanyl crisis -- illicit fentanyl is made in Mexico using Chinese precursors and moved across the border. DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas recently said China

for its role in the crisis.

Specifically, she would block Chinese instant messaging and payment apps used between Chinese and Mexican criminals and end loopholes in U.S. customs rules.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the Chinese balloon fiasco -- in which the Chinese sent a surveillance balloon across the U.S. before it was eventually shot down by the administration -- Haley is calling for the U.S. to pull out of the Scientific and Technological Cooperation. The partnership will soon expire, but could be renewed by the administration. Haley’s campaign cites a 2018 project that cooperated on launching weather balloons as an example of how the collaboration could be used by the Chinese.

Haley’s expanded plan also calls for anti-China sanctions to remain in place, citing reported delays by the Biden administration on human rights-related sanctions and a potential deal regarding fentanyl that would see sanctions lifted. Haley’s plan rules out any such softening.

"Americans want a president who will lead from a position of strength—not weakness," campaign spokesman Ken Farnaso told Fox News Digital. "Nikki Haley is the strongest and most vocal candidate in this race confronting Beijing’s many crimes and atrocities. She is China’s worst nightmare, and Xi Jinping knows it."

The plan is in line with Haley’s hawkish stance toward Beijing. Her June speech called for increased military ties with regional allies including Japan and South Korea, greater assistance to Taiwan as well as blocking exports to China, a ban on Chinese lobbying in the U.S. and a revocation of normal trade relations if the fentanyl crisis continues.

taken aim at the administration for allegedly being too soft on China, and last week passed a bill that would block DHS from using drones at the southern border made in China.

Haley had tackled China on the world stage when she served as U.N. ambassador during the Trump administration. Since then, she has remained outspoken on China, calling for the U.S. to ban TikTok and to boycott the Olympics in Beijing, while blasting corporations who do business with Chinese for hypocrisy on their stances on human rights.
The good thing is that most of those clowns are polling at 3%.

Looks like Biden will be forced out of 2024 election soon. Most of the elites have had it with Biden. The testimonies by Hunter Biden's ex business partner Devon Archer is pretty damning.

‘My guy’: Hunter Biden partner Devon Archer says Joe Biden was on calls with foreign patrons for ‘the brand’

WASHINGTON —Former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer told Congress Monday that Hunter referred to President Biden as “my guy” while connecting his dad to foreign associates nearly two dozen times — as Republicans move closer to

Archer said during a four-hour House Oversight Committee interview that Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma Holdings paid Hunter up to $1 million per year to serve on its board because of his family’s “brand.”

India should have learned to walk before it learns to run. But instead, it currently wants to compete in a 400m race, when it had barely learned to walk.
Barely learned to walk is an over statement of degree of magnitude. Kenya, Ethiopia, North Korea has more Olympic medals than India. This has nothing to do with the subject in discussion. But India is quite a few century away from being able to stand up properly if we are talking about walking literally

Biden isn’t going to be forced out unless Trump drops dead sometime between right now and before the election. There is not a single “acceptable” democrat to replace Biden at the moment. The next contender is RFK, however it is already obvious the uniparty absolutely hates him.

There's more to Foxconn's latest India adventure.

Apple

’s main supplier,
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
, is planning to invest close to US$500 million to build two component factories in India as part of a steady diversification from China.

At least one of the factories that the Taiwanese company plans to construct in the southern Karnataka state will produce Apple parts, including for iPhones, people familiar with the matter said. A formal announcement is expected as early as this week, the people said, declining to be named as the matter is not public.
Looks like Foxconn plans to build a proper supply chain in India to supply its own iPhone manufacturing there.

Separately, Foxconn has also signed an initial agreement with the southern Tamil Nadu government to set up a component plant with an investment of 16 billion rupees (US$195 million), the state’s industries ministry said Monday. The project planned at Kancheepuram district is likely to generate about 6,000 jobs.
That was the earlier Tamil Nadu news.

Foxconn’s decision suggests suppliers may move capacity out of China far faster than expected and is a coup for Modi’s government, which sees an opportunity to close India’s tech gap with China as Western investors and corporations sour on Beijing’s volatile regulations, slowing economy and US trading restrictions.
SCMP Jai Hind!

In my opinion. This Foxconn India adventure is not gonna end well. I've already explained at length about the lack of a coherent foundation for hard industry in India. Secondly, in the not too distant future, India will start fining Foxconn for X number of reasons. Then Foxconn decides leaves India and sells its assets there to the Indian oligarchs for a discount. Foxconn gets conned by India. And by that time, China may already have it's very own rivals to Foxconn and TSMC. By going all-in into politics, Taiwan will eventually lose its semiconductor lead to Mainland China and fade into mediocrity. Apple will lose market shares because it had to Jugaad for a couple of years with its Indian adventure.

Finally, I'll never buy any Apple or Foxconn products that are Made in India. They have decided to go political. So I'll give them the political treatment.

Someone from a telegram group I hang out with said he got themself an engineering sample Huawei Mate40 Pro:

He said this is definitely not a normal Mate40 Pro and is potent of things to come soon. From a quick google it certainly looks like a different CPU config than what can be expected.

He says that chip is far superior to Snapdragon 888 (he's exact words "花式吊打888"). I don't know much about phones, anyone care to comment?

Foxconn is an assembler. China already has Luxshare and BYD as assemblers. BYD is quite crazy, as they're a component maker, electronics assembler, and automotive company all in 1. They're a vertically integrated giant industrial conglomerate like a 21st century version of Ford, GE or Exxon Mobil. Warren Buffet is rich for a reason.

In any case of a westpac contingency, we can look to the model of Bayer in the US, which was nationalized from Imperial Germany.

TSMC is less replacable but without US tools they cannot operate. So they're not really a Taiwanese company.

☹️☹️☹️ I’m so sad about the U. S. ban on Huawei; I was so looking forward to getting their first folding phone. I think it was the Mate 20! ☹️☹️☹️

That pic is a girl’s hand. I’m a hyper-male; I instinctively recognized and, then, checked myself!
