They can’t re-establish the draft; Muhammad Ali defeated the draft in the courts and no individual that upholds their constitutional protections will ever again accept being drafted. Put simply, folks will just say no!

I'm no lawyer but I'm sure they'll come up with a law to bypass it somehow. The US is slipping into a banana republic. If the State wants warm bodies for a war, they'll get it. I would not be surprised if they attempt something similar to what Zelenskyy is doing right now; snatching people right off the streets.

They can pass whichever law they want; but they won’t pass any laws that infringe upon my birth-right to self-defense, known, constitutionally, as the 2d amendment! You must not live in the U. S.; folks, here, are packing. I carry (open) everywhere I go, and I ain’t alone! At this point, whether, or not, I even pull-over for a traffic-stop, is a choice, not compulsory! There will be no more “press gangs”, here! Nobody is willing to die to enforce unpopular laws; American law-enforcement, at the core level, are cowards! As I said, a racist campaign to achieve voluntary enlistment is much more likely, and would probably succeed, even with brainwashed americans of African descent.

Open carry depends on what State you live in. Surprisingly Florida prohibits it (mostly). It's irrelevant on what you think of LEOs. If they want you to pull over, you'd do it. I highly doubt you can just ignore them. Once they get their orders, some will carry it out while others will ignore or walk away. We won't know until that reality arrives. Would there be a division among government enforcers / general population? Absolutely yes. Regardless, it'll turn into a sh1tshow right quick.

As for "press gangs", that's what Selective Service is for. It's still unlawful to not register. Punishment for non-compliance will likely arrive when that time comes.

Article is just the headline at the moment. Anyone know what Putin signed?
More assets seized for Western companies.

My guess is the Russians nationalized these Western food and beverage companies to prevent the same sort of market disruptions which happened when Finnish company Valio exited the Russian market. Valio just plain shut down their factories in Russia and the business was closed pending a sale. This led to severe shortages of butter in a lot of places in Russia. Right now things went back to normal, but I guess the government does not want the same thing to happen with milk and beer as well.
Germany did the exact same thing with Gazprom's holdings in Germany claiming the government needed to control the gas storage directly. So it is not like the EU can complain the Russians are doing something they did not do themselves. Let us not even mention all the properties they have been stealing from Russian citizens all over Europe with no rhyme or reason. Because if they are rich = they are friends with Putin and we must take their mansions and yatches.

Exxon also shut down production at the oil and gas field at Sakhalin-I in Russia last year. With the excuse that they had no ships which could transport the oil out because they had no Western insurance due to the sanctions. Sovcomflot, which is a Russian government owned oil transport company, offered to transport the oil. But Exxon flat out denied them and shut down production. Not just of the oil, but also the gas, which was used to supply and heat Far Eastern Russia including Vladivostok. The Western press was gloating over the fact claiming that Russia wouldn't be able to get production back up after the wells were shut down. Claiming operating the fields required "unique Western knowledge". The Russian government nationalized Exxon's share from Sakhalin-I. It took them several months to get production back up, but exports are coming out right now.

The recent opinion piece published in the paper of supposed integrity, the new York times, firmly established what I wrote on the post above which is essentially dictating to China in no uncertain terms that China either submit to American demands that to not compete on high technology or else. And yet, some people on this forum and elsewhere that people like myself and many others are being too dramatic or emotional about this issue can take a f..ng hike both figuratively and literally.

MacArthur gave Truman a list of targets, 24 or so inside China, he wanted to be atomic bombed in the Korean War. Needless to say, we know who got fired.

China did not exactly give up or give in, back then. Why expect anything to change today?

If someone from older generations read this, they would read it and forget about it. It was worst back then, and here we are today.

Today's trade war and tech war, really are nothing new. Trade war really is sanctions. Tech war really is embargoes.

The only thing different today is the size of China, and the trajectory of future Chinese growth, in all fields.

The Americans when it comes to China, is an old dog, and an old dog cannot learn new tricks.

In fact, it is worst because it is Demented Joe time! Big time!

The chip and trade war is a metaphor.
To America and the west, it represents preserving their undisputed power and monopoly over the technology of modernity. Since they are a Judeo Christian Manichaean values society, they cannot tolerate an equal or superior society.
For China, it was inevitable that the potential of 1.4bln chinese of the oldest living civilisation was going to translate into innovation and tech advancement.
The anglos cannot abide by this, so their only recourse is a racial holy war to reaffirm their notion of white supremacy.

But that is not important.

The only thing important about that, is will it work?

Huawei 5G, how that story went, probably foreshadows all the answers.
